Me too. The pacing of this whole series is all over the shop. Episode 5 and 7 are among the most boring episodes of any show I've seen (granted, I'm quite selective of which shows I commit to to begin with).
I swear they could have cut about three quarters of the episode and we wouldn't have missed any actual plot, and still ended up in the same place - not very far along from the end of episode 6.
That being said, the Elrond / Durin arc is the most enjoyable part of the show, and it is also satisfying seeing all the throwbacks to Jackson's trilogy, like the hiding under big tree roots.
The finale really does need to deliver.

Over a month later than most of the rest of the world, I've finally finished watching this We were waiting until we could watch the whole series back-to-back over several evenings, which I'm glad we did! I don't think the pacing bothered me as much as it did other viewers, but even I found there was a bit in the middle that really, really dragged. I fell asleep during episode 5 and on watching a summary I didn't actually miss anything All the elements are there for this to be a great show, except the writing which just isn't quite there for me. It's OK but there were a lot of bits that were VERY clunkily-written. I didn't actually mind the dialogue though there were some howlers (I am going to use 'GIVE ME THE MEAT, AND GIVE IT TO ME RAW!' in work meetings from now on.) The finale was the best episode of the bunch for me. It managed to rescue a lot of the poor writing earlier on. Yes, by then it had become obvious who Sauron was but the way they did the reveal was very well done and the vision scenes with Galadriel were genuinely creepy. As was the transition in the faces of the elves when the rings were revealed. But yes, it looks and feels like Middle-Earth to me, I like the soundtrack - yes it sounds quite overdone in places to modern ears, but Howard Shore's beloved score for the original Jackson trilogy (by which this is heavily inspired) is quite overbearing in places too, so I think it works. The dwarves were a highlight and especially the relationship between Elrond and Durin. (The mithril thing was very contrived but I think they just about managed to salvage it with the creation of the rings in the finale). Nori and Poppy were endearing but I did not care for the harfoots and the whole 'nobody walks alone oh but if you are injured and can't travel we absolutely will leave you behind to die' thing. Numenor looked pretty but I found the scenes there among the most boring. Also Galadriel commenting on her dear husband's death just as a throwaway line was hilarious when he is literally there in LOTR... also at some point they need to have a daughter so Elrond can marry her and have Arwen, unless they have changed that too! All in all it gets a 7 out of 10 for me, didn't love it as much as I wanted to but I'm definitely interested in seeing where it goes next. I just hope the writing improves.

Oh and after resisting for the first couple of episodes, I am on board the Galadriel hate train, she is very hard to like Elrond and Arondir are the only elven characters I like. And I still find Arondir a bit wooden although he improved a lot as the season went on.
