Interesting play off finals coming up, Notts County v Chesterfield to get back into the Football League. Chester v Kidderminster Harriers, two ex league clubs trying to get back into the Conference, along with Oxford City v St Albans from the National league South. Mansfield were great away at Colchester, over 1000 of us there to see a 2-0 win, but sadly Bradford drew 1-1 and Salford lost 1-0, meaning we still needed to score one more goal, and miss out on the playoffs. Stockport, Carlisle, Bradford and Salford to compete in those, and I'm hoping I dont give them the kiss of death, but I'd like to see Stockport or Carlisle up there. And in Scotland Spartans will play Albion Rovers (over 2 legs) to see who is in Scottish Div 2 next season!

And Hashtag United get another promotion, and the two Bury phoenix clubs have merged, so be interesting to see if they can get out of the North West Counties Prem div next season? Isle of Man just finished mid table as well, but good crowds.

I think Bury would've finished in the top 2 if they hadn't been distracted by cups and I would expect them to go up next season.
Hashtag United are an interesting story. There were plenty of raised eyebrows when they were given a place at step 6 but they've been totally respectful of non-League football and the pyramid by all accounts and have won a lot of friends.

Yeah my son has followed the Hashtag United story as obviously he is who they are aimed at He thinks they can go a lot further, we shall see next season. Interesting that they passed their ground sharing team Bowers & Pitsea who got relegated. I wonder if Hashtag have any firm ground plans of their own. And yeah I think you're right about Bury especially if the merger goes ahead and they have the financial support of both trusts.

Oxford City into the National League for the first time after beating St. Albans 4-0. Kidderminster return after a seven-year absence after winning 2-0 against Brackley.

Notts County did finally make it into the league but last minute equaliser in stoppage time against Boreham Wood in the semi-final and a later winner, then penalties against Chesterfield...
The rest of the playoffs are well balanced except Sheffield Wednesday - enough points to go up as champions most seasons but only 3rd and then they fall 4-0 in the first leg of the playoffs. All the others were either drawn or single-goal wins by the home side.

The football season hasn't quite ended, we don't know yet which of Sheffield Wednesday or Barnsley is getting promoted. A bit of a strange order for these finals with the one to the Premier League being played first, and all the playoff finals so far have gone to penalties.
Where they finished this season compared to last season:
1(1) Manchester City (4 points fewer than last season) 2(5) Arsenal 3(6) Manchester United 4(11) Newcastle 5(2) Liverpool 6(9) Brighton 7(14) Aston Villa 8(4) Tottenham 9(13) Brentford 10(-) Fulham (1st in Championship previous season) 11(12) Crystal Palace (1 place higher but 4 points fewer) 12(3) Chelsea 13(10) Wolves 14(7) West Ham 15(-) Bournemouth (2nd in Championship previous season) 16(-) Nottingham Forest (4th in Championship, playoff winners previous season) 17(16) Everton 18(8) Leicester 19(17) Leeds 20(15) Southampton
Teams that did extremely well compared to last season: Newcastle, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Manchester United Teams that did extremely poorly compared to last season: Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool, Tottenham.

It's only the fourth time in the 31 seasons of the Premier League that all three promoted clubs have avoided relegation.
The other instances:
2001/02: Fulham, Blackburn, Bolton
2011/12: QPR, Norwich, Swansea
2017/18: Newcastle, Brighton, Huddersfield

2018 was unusual in that all 3 relegated teams had been in the top flight at least 7 years. That's the only time ever that 3 teams who had been in the top flight that long were relegated. (Going back a long way it was only 2 up 2 down). It didn't happen this year because Leeds had only been in the top flight for 3 seasons.
In my lifetime, this is the 5th time a club has been relegated from the top flight within 7 years of them winning the league.
4 years: Blackburn Rovers (1995, 1999) 5 years: Derby County (1975, 1980) 6 years: Aston Villa (1981, 1987) 7 years: Manchester United (1967, 1974) 7 years: Leicester City (2016, 2023)
Leeds were relegated in 1982 8 years after winning the title in 1974 but they're the only team in my lifetime to have gone from Champions to being relegated twice (in any number of years). The second run was 12 years though. (1992, 2004)
The quickest ever from champions to relegated was Manchester City, champions in 1937 and relegated the following season. Just before I was born Ipswich went from champions to relegated in just 2 seasons. (1962, 1964)
If they're going to punish Manchester City then rather than take a recent title, take away that one. At least it will remove that embarrassing record. It would also make Charlton Athletic the new champions of 1936-37.

It would also make Charlton Athletic the new champions of 1936-37. They should take away all of their titles and relegate them, but they'll probably just end up with a fine and maybe about four points deducted.

More like a one point deduction suspended for three years.
