One band most associated with Disco are the Brothers Gibb (the Bee Gees). This week "Jive Talkin'" the Arif Mardin produced lead single from the album Main Course (as well as a song on the 1977 Saturday Night Fever soundtrack) would go on to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100; it also reached the top-five on the UK Singles Chart (and Canada #1 & Australia #14). Largely recognised as the group's comeback song, it was their first US top-10 hit since "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" (1971).

The Stylistics after splitting from record producer Thom Bell in 1974, songwriters/producers Hugo & Luigi and George David Weiss took over, with arrangements by Van McCoy. The first result was "Can't Give You Anything (But My Love)". In their native North America it flopped USA #51, Canada #74. In contrast it became their only UK #1 hit, and was a top ten hit throughout Europe.

Rod Stewart's cover of "Sailing" by Sutherland Brothers original in 1972, was taken from the chart topping album Atlantic Crossing, which was recorded April – June 1975 at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio with Tom Dowd producing. It flopped in the USA #58, but elsewhere was a huge success (UK #1 (& topped the charts in several European countries) & Australia #2.

Her first claim to fame was the single ‘Society’s Child' from her debut album on Verve in 1967. But her most widely recognized song, "At Seventeen", was released as a USA #3 Canada #6 Australia #18 single from her 1975 album Between the Lines which reached number 1 on the Billboard chart.

Becoming the outfit's biggest hit to date (including their first incarnation; obviously they surpass that with their third incarnation, but that's for a decade later).

Silver Convention were a German Euro disco recording act of the 1970s initiated in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. Using female session vocalists named Ingrid, Wilma and Monica. They did a proto-Milli Vanilli and got Penny McLean, Ramona Wulf and Linda G. Thompson became the public face of Silver Convention. The near instrumental containing just six words "Fly Robin Fly" was a USA #1 (this week) UK #28 Canada #1 Australia #11 hit (it reached #3 in their native Germany).
