Thinking of kicking off Lingovision over the first May bank holiday weekend if that works for the schedule Smurfie and with any Havenvision plans Panda ? It would probably be 2 weeks for entries, then 2-3 weeks for voting, so would finish early June. It's good for me if it's good for the Panda.

I haven't really thought about Havenvision yet. I don't really like running it at the same time of other competitions and the Pick of the Pops competition at the start of the year has pushed everything back. Plus, I'm probably moving house soon so not sure how much free time I'll have.

As a suggestion, I wonder if it's worth moving LV back (or forward) a week or extending the period of one of the windows - as HF12 finishes around the 9th June as well.

It would be starting earlier but I'm away the last weekend of April and I was trying to avoid having to deal with any contest admin around then. It's already a bit late starting in early May tbh - I may extend it by a week at the end, although by the end of HF there won't be many songs for people to listen to.

During the 2 days the sing-offs, especially if it isn't double-elimination, it doesn't usually take long for people to vote so they have more time to listen to other music to rate (i.e. LingoVision). In addition I have received most of the votes by Sunday so people have Mondays to listen to the other songs.
After the next double-elimination round we'll be down to 7 acts and 3 regular rounds with sing-offs. In addition the next 2 rounds are stretched out due to my inavailability the next 2 Monday nights to do results shows.

Tagging Wanderlust for reference re. Havenvision. I guess if it's not likely to be clashing with Havenvision I'll go ahead with launching Lingovision this weekend? We can always extend the voting and/or song entry period if need be to accommodate the closing stages of HF.

For which decade ? As I remember we already used all from 1950s to 2010s.

I think we were doing 1980s again...?
That said, we'll be almost halfway through the 2020s by the time October rolls around 😱

I still think we could make a pre-1950s contest work but it would take some ingenious planning.

I still like the idea of a 'second chance' Haven Factor - where you can enter any non-winner from any previous edition of the contest, but you're not allowed to use any songs that were entered previously.

but will you be allowed to retry the act you failed badly with before, or would it have to be someone else's failed attempt? So I could attempt to go places with Bob Marley or Blur but not the Rolling Stones or Queen.

It's been in my brain for a while since I think it needs a twist to separate it from the original Haven Factor, I still like the idea of no one knowing who's going home each week until the end, it's just a question of how to do some kind of results show.

It's been in my brain for a while since I think it needs a twist to separate it from the original Haven Factor, I still like the idea of no one knowing who's going home each week until the end, it's just a question of how to do some kind of results show. I'm not sure there can be a weekly results show with no results to reveal I have an idea but it is harder to explain than execute, best I give an example, but we could introduce a "danger zone" instead of revealing who was eliminated EXAMPLE 1Say we have 13 entries, it could look something like this RESULTS SHOW 1Based on a "danger zone" principle we could reveal the acts in a random order, with 8 being revealed as safe and 5 acts in the danger zone 1. QUEEN 101 2. ABBA 97 3. REM 86 4. FLEETWOOD MAC 85 5. BLUR 76 6. ROLLING STONES 73 7. THE SMITHS 70 8. DAVID BOWIE 68 ................................ MADONNA 63 THE KINKS 58 MICHAEL JACKSON 56 BRITNEY SPEARS 49 BOB MARLEY 40 so the 5 acts with the least points end up in the danger zone, (Danger Zone = You were in the bottom 5 so there was a chance you were eliminated but we don't reveal who was bottom or eliminate, we just move onto the next week) REVEAL ORDERREM QUEEN THE KINKS (DANGER ZONE)ABBA MADONNA (DANGER ZONE)FLEETWOOD MAC BLUR MICHAEL JACKSON (DANGER ZONE)ROLLING STONES THE SMITHS DAVID BOWIEBRITNEY SPEARS (DANGER ZONE)BOB MARLEY (DANGER ZONE)
This will work well i think because the next week all 13 acts would be back back, 5 more are in the danger zone without ever knowing who was eliminated. If you ever enter the danger zone there is a chance you have been eliminated and chances are everyone will enter the danger zone in the end but not a certainty, you have to play the perfect game to avoid the danger zone. For some jeopardy I would introduce a new round if i ran this edition, it is a beauty given the advantage of knowing you were never in the danger zone means you know your definitely not eliminated, which is valuable information come the later rounds, so there would be one round somewhere in the last third of the contest where 12 of the 13 acts are revealed to be in the danger zone so only the winner of that round would know they are not in the danger zone which means the acts that are doing the best up to that point (that have never entered the danger zone) need to enter a banger to win that round if they want to keep that advantage and even the mentors who have been in the danger zone already can enter a banger to sabotage everyone else's chances and leave everyone knowing they have been in the danger zone at least once.

That is a great way to do it!
That way there's still tension each week.
