The contenders are:
Basement Jaxx "Kish Kash" Belle & Sebastian "Dear Catastrophe Waitress" Franz Ferdinand "Franz Ferdinand" Jamelia "Thank You" Keane "Hopes And Fears" Snow Patrol "Final Straw" Joss Stone "The Soul Sessions" Streets "A Grand Don't Come For Free" Ty "Upwards" Amy Winehouse "Frank" Robert Wyatt "Cuckooland" Zutons "Who Killed The Zutons"
The bookies reckon it's gonna be Franz Ferdinand but who do YOU think will win?
And who do you think should win?

I think it'll be between FF, Streets & Amy Winehouse... will opt for Amy Winehouse as an outside bet.

Great News! They dont need the sales effect though! I do remember when it made a diff to unknown bands/artists, but it seems more of a recognition of albums that have already been recognised, if you get what I mean?

apparently once the nominations had been announced both Ty and Robert Wyatt achieved huge sales gains.
FF should go top 10 by the weekend hopefully and maybe top 5 next week. ;D

I'm pleased the award went to a decent band this year, helps boost the credibility of the awards again! ;D Joss Stone should never have been nominated seriously as her album was mainly cover versions, which could hardly be classed as ground-breaking!

She did em in her own style though, changing the White Stripes song Fell in love with a girl (boy)... I wonder where the nommed albums were in my mids and where they will be come sunday...All will get big boosts, when is it on the telly though? Friday night?
