DFA 1979 - that should interesting ya cant wait to see how they pull their sound of live... xiu xiu - I plead ignorance - though I've heard their name tons. What album do I start with and will check em out i only have the "fabulous muscles" album... so thats the only one i can recommend... ive heard its their most accessible also... the guy, jamie, sounds like he's in the middle of a nervous breakdown half the time... but i also find a lot of beauty in it.... if you wanted to sample id take a listen to "clowne towne" and "the valley oh" off that album ive also heard him/them do a version of j division's "ceremony" that i think ian curtis would have been proud of (...or not)

Pretty crazy sh*t going on. Loads of noise and voice is something between Ian Curtis and singer from Modest Mouse I guess. Will definately give this a few listens, but it is pretty hard to just latch on to as they are not a typical easy to listen to sound...
