Ok, this is my new feature! All you have to do is post the name of an artist, who at one time had a successful chart career, and now appears to have disappeared off the planet and you are curious to know what happened to them! I will then do my best to find out what happened to that artist/band. Rules: - The artist must have had at least one UK Top 10 hit.
- Only one artist/band can be posted at a time. Once I have one request the next request cannot be posted until I reply to the previous request!
Ok, first request please.......

I'm still investigating the Vengaboys at the minute, and finding it more difficult than I imagined! All Vengaboy sites, official and unofficial seem to exist no more!

Vengaboys disappeared from the face of the earth? TRAGIC! Bet they all ended up in adult entertainment from what I remember of them!

I may well have to start one up. It's vital that their outstanding creativity be remembered for years to come. I can't believe how difficult it is to find information on them. You just wouldn't know they'd been so successful in the late 90s. The last information I can find relates to the release of their first ballad "forever as one" in 2001 which only made #28 in UK and was a big flop throughout Europe. After that the trail goes dead!

That was supposed to be their final single - a ballad to say goodbye on. So you won't find anything else after that. It would be nice to know what they're up to now though. Probably employed as dancers or dj's in one club or another.

Tasmin Archer is still recording and releasing material (apparently!) Her last release was called "Singer/Songwriter" in 2002, though some of the songs were from earlier albums so it was really just an acoustic rendition of already-released material. She was supposed to release an album called "Non-Linear" at the end of 2004, but it appears it has been delayed. We are still waiting!

Ace of Base! Official statement from the Ace of Base website: First of all, the band Ace of Base, do exist and are live and well. The band consists as always of the siblings Jenny, Jonas, Linn Berggren and Ulf Ekberg! They have not been breaking up nor have any of the members left the band for other stuff. So so when that now is said… Jenny is currently doing charity work around Sweden, singing concerts for the church, Jonas is as always writing songs, raising his two kids and Linn is living a life outside the spotlight and enjoying that. Ulf moved from Spain to England some years ago and is now actively working in a company that are developing business strategies between entertainment and trademarks, on the side of his writing and producing. Happy news is that Ulf will become a father in late September. So I presume that between the businesses he will become the master of diapers. = ) “congratulations to Ulf and his girlfriend Joanna” We been discussion a new album, but we have not moved further in to recordings. There is a material written, and hopefully there will be a structure of recording soon that I could present to you. One thing that could stress these recording is that you Acers, request the band as much as possible to Universal Music in Germany!!! And then something surprising…. Since some time there’s been some roomers about performances with Ace of Base! I can tell you that, yes infect we been talking to various promoters in Russia and the Baltic stats for some exclusive performances. Still we have not finalized any date yet so it’s still pending! If this will happened, I don’t know. I do think that this will be happening sometime in the autumn. I do hope that I could come back to you with some preliminary scheduling soon. Until next time! All the best to everyone, Lasse Karlsson
