I don't disagree but I'd say Mark Webster, Gary Anderson or Martin Adams will win it. I'd like to see Co Stompe do some good as well.

Usually John Part commentates on this as well, but I doubt he'll be doing so this year.

A shame about Part not commentating this year, especially as he still did it after he won the PDC title in '03.
Apparently Bobby George is going to be doing some commentary this year!

If I'm not mistaken, the PDC championship also has twice as many players.

It does. I think the PDC championship had 48 until recently, with the top 16 getting byes to Round 2, but this year it was 64. (68 if you count the little preliminary round).
PDC does have most of the world's top players at the moment but the BDO is the grassroots of the sport, with more young up and coming players and I agree with what Martin Adams said earlier this week, that the BDO is the sport in its truest form, whereas PDC is almost sports entertainment.
It's also worth noting that no player has won the PDC title without first winning the BDO title.

I wasn't aware until recently that John Part won his first World title with the BDO, I always thought he won the first PDC World title.

I wasn't aware until recently that John Part won his first World title with the BDO, I always thought he won the first PDC World title. Priestley won the first PDC title and Part won the BDO title the same year, beating Bobby George in the final.

Yesterday's results:
Mark Webster 3-1 Ian Jones Gary Robson 3-1 Tony David Darryl Fitton 3-1 Davy Richardson Tony O'Shea 3-2 Steve Farmer John Walton 0-3 Robert Thornton Neils De Ruiter 1-3 Glenn Moody
Anastasia Dobromyslova 2-0 Dee Bateman Francis Hoenselaar 0-2 Stephanie Smee
With de Ruiter going out yesterday (MOODY! MOODY!) it means only one of last year's semi-finalists will be in the last 16...
