although the album's been out a few months I feel urged to start a thread about her. I just got it over Christmas and it's awesome. - I liked her first single 'Mr Rock and Roll' but it was 'This is the life' (title track from her album) that really got to me. Just full of folky, irresistable songs with a bit of depth which I can't stop playing. Her new single 'Run' is excellent - a bit Heather Nova (if anyone remembers her!) This Scottish lass deserves best newcomer at the Brits I would hope!

I love the Amy MacDonald album. (Coincidentally its next in a pile of CDs in front me that I am loading onto my iPod). The only track on it that I'm none too keen is "LA" - and I can still not understand why this was a single. Stand out tracks for me would be This Is The Life, and the wonderful Let's Start A Band. Oh, and I remember Heather Nova. I'm sure I've got a CD or two knocking around somewhere of hers. Walk This World was a fabulous single!

I do love that 'LA' song but didn't realise it was a single and bit unhappy it flopped.
In fact, it's quite unusual for a debut artist to recover from a flop like that to have a top 40 hit again isn't it?
'Let's start a band' is great too - in fact they're all good. The one about footballer's wives, although I agree with her, has a bit too obvious lyrics and possibly puts me off it.

Her new single 'Run' is excellent Really? The only comments I've seen from fans are that this is a terrible choice and should not be a single

Received Amy's album at last yesterday from HMV.com. Great album but I think Run is one of the weaker tracks.

I thought that her debut single, "Poison Prince", was average. Really didn't like the follow-up, "Mr. Rock & Roll" so decided against the album. However, "L.A." was nice and "This Is The Life" is simply FABULOUS. The latter prompted me to get the album over Christmas. Really good actually - I've even warmed to the first two singles. I LOVE "Run" as well. Very impressed with how she's quietly shifted over 300K.

Yeah, don't like 'Run' at all. 'Barrowland Ballroom' screams single.

Yeah, don't like 'Run' at all. 'Barrowland Ballroom' screams single. I agree. Wish For Something More is catchy too.

I don't think that if 'LA' is not catchy enough to be a hit, that anything apart from the two that have been hits can trouble the charts. I'll relisten to 'Barrowland Ballroom' again to see if I change my mind.

It's very unusual for me and my 12 year old daughter to both like something but Rachel loves this album. She's generally in to R&B.

I've been liking the singles too, may have to invest or get my parents to buy it and blag it, as I think they like her as well.

I bet it's thanks to this thread that the album has rocketed up to no.1 in the album charts. Respect the power of Haven!

I just ordered the album too. There's simply no going wrong with music like this, if you ask me.
