Showing that lower placed singles could sell quite a few copies back then, the #87 single (The King Is Here) sold over 100,000 copies without climbing higher than #60, one of only a handful of songs to do so without making the top 40.
The #99 single, A Way To Your Heart by Soul Sister, spent nearly 4 months on the chart without climbing higher than #77 but sold over 40,000 copies and ended the year as the 329th best selling single... useless facts time!

Yeah, the last fact was pretty useless, Robbie.
Know hardly any from this chart, but I was only 4 months old when this chart was compiled.

Top 100! Yes! Love looking at old charts! ;D Those facts were not useless at all, ignore the pipsqueak ;)It really sold that many without getting above #60! It was a consistent seller all through 1989. It ended up being in the top 100, mainly between #76-100, for 9 months! The record was remixed and retitled "Hear The Drummer Get Wicked" the following year and credited to its remixer, Chad Jackson. That version reached the top 10. Do you remember the song? That version sold another 150,000 copies, not bad for a song that cost $80 to make...

I remember that Soulsister song, was a minor hit in the US. That's pretty impressive: 40K for something that never made top 75!! Now we have singles that make top 10 without ever reaching that amount...
