There are quite a lot, especially in Buenos Aires, but a lot of them have recently emigrated to Israel. The steaks are very good there - probably what they're most famous for. And very cheap.
A group of 6 of us ate a full steak meal in a restaurant and the whole bill came to about £20.

Wow I didn't realise. They are of Sephardic descent?

Yes, though her father is from the Middle East somewhere, not Argentina.

Wow! Quite a story!
Well, most people's backgrounds are quite interesting if you go far back enough. I am descended from English nobility, French Protestant refugees, Irish landowners and Birmingham plebs!

Where does the Jewish ancestry come from?

Doesn't it all trace back to the Holy Land via the Diaspora? Or are you talking all the way back to the beginning, to Abraham?

Yes but I mean in your case. My grandparents all came from Eastern Europe during the early part of this century. My mother's mother's mother was pregnant with my mother's mother at the time they came over so that grandparent was actually born here (100 years ago).
Fortunately immigration laws were not so tough then and they were let in. (Of course now the ones from Poland would have to be allowed in because of the EU).

I'm not Jewish. I thought you knew that?

No, you'd suggested that you were. So it's only your boyfriend that is Jewish?

I'm sorry if it seemed that way, I hope you don't think I was misleading you! I don't actually belong to any religion at all. I am very interested in converting to Judaism, which is why I have been asking you all about it.

In court I would not swear on anything. Don't you have to take some kind of oath !!! I remember sorting my divorce out and I had to swear on the bible !!! I didnt know what the alternatives were !!!

When I went to court on jury duty last year I took an affirmation. About half of us took the affirmation, I seem to recall.

So is an affirmation instead of the oath Earl? I've so far never been called for a jury but would like to be.Was it interesting or a big bore?

It was something I had always wanted to do and I really enjoyed it. Well it made a pleasant change to the work routine.
Wasn't the most exciting case - a combination of handling stolen property, piracy and unauthorised set-top-box tampering and a lot of the time was sent listening to evidence comprising of lists with details.

Is Carol Spanish then Earl? I'm assuming so as you said it's her first language but then again, could be wrong.Only just seen this thread so I'll think of some interesting questions for you.

How many boots does Carole have, and what are your favourites?

Carol is from Argentina. She has a lot of pairs of boots, can't count them at the moment. She sometimes gets rid of old pairs though so I wouldn't always know if she still had any particular pair. As for my favourites? I don't know - she has a really nice pair of suede purple boots, and then there is the new satin pair which are very sexy, and can be folded at the top to go over the knees (or below them). I think she is going to wear a nice pair of black leather boots to the party.
