Sadly I never got round to watching the game. Caught the chelsea v man u game then had company. Sounds like reading played really well though. I always liked Steve Clarke when he was assistant at West Ham under Zola. Had us well drilled, I'm surprised it hasn't gone so well in the league for Reading, with a few players running out of contract it could be a make or break summer Yea its going to be a big summer. Looking further beyond I think if we haven't won promotion by the time his contract is up in 2017 then he'll be gone. He comes across well in interviews, more than Adkins did, but I still get a nagging feeling that he's got more ambition than managing in the Championship. We've got to finish top half next season though otherwise his position may come under threat, though that may depend on which big names leave in the summer. He may not have the luxury of an FA cup run like this one next year.
The league form has been mystifying, he has at times experimented, but by all accounts we deserved to beat Blackburn and possibly deserved to get something against Bournemouth in the two games preceding the Arsenal game, so results haven't always matched up to performances. What stands out to me is the late goals we've conceded. We were a bit fortunate to get a 0-0 against Middlesbrough in Jan and by all accounts Brighton deserved their late draw on Boxing Day (plus we scored a deserved very late equaliser at Bolton last month) but all the other late goals we've conceded this season seem to have been undeserved. Take them away and any talk of relegation would have ended ages ago. As it is it should be sorted one way or the other midweek and then hopefully we can end the season on a high.
