I loved Power Out, but was REALLY disappointed with the Neighbourhood album. I have to say, that was the only single I really liked as well, although the one with the dead soldiers and kids in the video was quite good as well. Rebellion (Lies) that must have been - which was by far the most commercial on the album and their biggest hit making no.19. I bought the album but lost it a few weeks later - must repurchase

;D I did repurchase and I do love this album - Power Out, Rebellion, Wake Up, Crown of Love all good stuff.
Really looking forward to the Neon Bible.

odd that you mention "crown of love"... it's the only arcade fire song i've heard that i'm not bothered about!
likewise can't wait for the new album... both "intervention" and "keep the car running" sound very interesting..

You could've bought a pair off e-bay if you had a spare 7 grand!

Serious - 7 grand!!! Jeez as the Americans say. Yep, pretty decent profit for the tout that sold that pair! Probably didn't cost more than £30 and he sells em for 7k!!

"Neon Bible" has recieved ***** in this months Q magazine.
Considering the three albums they gave 3 ***** last year (RHCP, Razorshite, Muse) I'm not sure whether that's good or bad!

You saying Muse don't deserve top marks??

I've not heard it (only the 4 singles and Map...) but from what I have heard it's not made me want to get it at all!

You saying Muse don't deserve top marks?? Very much so!! They have never, nor do I think they will ever make an album that deserves even a 7/10. Origin of Symmetry is their best and I rate it a 6/10. Don't take it personally tho - i'm a hard critic. My favorite albums last year (Hot Chip, Decemberists, and Asobi Seksu) I only gave a 8/10. Good live too, I dare say they are the best arena band around right now... but Arena gigs aren't my thing tbh... Muse do what they do well - but most of their songs are far too Samey to be considered great musicians or do well with critics.

I thought Hot Chip's album was a bit rubbish. Might have to listen to it again.

half of it was - haha!! only songs to bother with are: boy from school colours over and over (good single, but I don't listen to it anymore actually) the warning so glad to see you no fit state
speaking of hot chip.. i saw them a few months ago and THEY WERE FANATASTIC! no really - i was not expecting much at all as his vocals are so weak and that style of music could end up being very corny live if not done right. It ended up being the best dance i had all year. They put bands like Soulwax (one of my long time favorites) doing their NightVersions Tour (where they make their songs more clubby) to shame. 2nd best concert of 2006 (after mogwai).

But that's a major problem, only six good tracks does not make a great album... an EP maybe, but certainly not an album.
Neither are worth 5 stars but I'd possibly rather listen to the Muse album as a whole...

aye, but muse albums have maybe 3 songs that *i* can listen to more then a few times....
but i will grant you that hot chip's weaker songs are worse than muse's weaker tracks. muse are more consistent, but to me it's borringly so. I think they are too much stuck into their 'groove' and many of the songs are just 'muse by numbers'.
let me be clear, i have nothing against muse. there is much worse stuff out there! lol
