Well their sound has varied with every release... they started out as a production based "indie-pop" band (almost twee), with bright & sweet songs BUT ironic and with a sorrowful twist... with every release they matured their sound and by Gran Turismo they were kinda indie-electro-pop... They produced some brilliant pop songs like "My Favourite Game", "Been It", "Carnival", "Erase/Rewind", "Rise & Shine", "Losers", "Lovefool" & "Sick & Tired". It's follow-up Long Gone Before Daylight is exactly the opposite of GT... It's not so accessible... You have to spin this album like 20 times before the songs become memorable and also to accept their new sound... It's stripped down... It's loose... Some of the songs are almost 6 minutes long... It's warm but sometimes ethereal and haunting... It's got an almost country-ish feel... Contains my favourite Cardie's song "Communication" which is just BEAUTIFUL... you cant help but fall in love with that song With Super Extra Gravity again they went almost oposite of LGBDL... Most of the songs are just 3-4 mins long... They are very raw and "catchy" (not as their earlier stuff)... Some of them almost rocking and you can see the improvement the band has made as musicians over the time... Listening to this album will make you appriciate LGBDL more, if you were disappointed with their new direction after GT... It's raw-ness would make you appriciate the textures and melodies of their previous... That's not to say that this album is inferior to LGBDL... It's as good and includes songs that remind me of the former but are more consise in structure... This one grabs your attention while LGBFDL is a dreamy/alienating masterpeice! LGBDL is still my favourite... Followed by GT & SEG... I just love it... It's just beautiful and will make you feel at home no matter where you are! I suggest you'll start with it

The Cardigans have been dropped by Universal after 14 years.
The band have admitted that next month's Best Of compilation is being released to end their contract after six albums with the label.
"We had a fantastic time on a major label," Nina Persson told PS. "They're great for young bands. But now, it's a relief. I can make my next solo album as A Camp at my own pace, not theirs."
