No Stags or Posh, but i'm still interested, as is EarlP! In fact, I think Bradforld will be favourites for promotion this year and err Luton favourites for relegation! P GD PTS 1 Accrington Stanley 0 0 0 2 Aldershot 0 0 0 3 Barnet 0 0 0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 Bournemouth 0 0 0 5 Bradford 0 0 0 6 Brentford 0 0 0 7 Bury 0 0 0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8 Chester 0 0 0 9 Chesterfield 0 0 0 10 Dag & Red 0 0 0 11 Darlington 0 0 0 12 Exeter 0 0 0 13 Gillingham 0 0 0 14 Grimsby 0 0 0 15 Lincoln City 0 0 0 16 Macclesfield 0 0 0 17 Morecambe 0 0 0 18 Notts County 0 0 0 19 Port Vale 0 0 0 20 Rochdale 0 0 0 21 Rotherham 0 0 0 22 Shrewsbury 0 0 0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23 Wycombe 0 0 0 24 Luton 0 0 -30

So far Notts have signed Adam Nowland, Michael Johnson, Russell Hoult, Matthew Hamshaw and Jamie Forrester. I'm happy with the signings so far but we need a striker if we are going to be more competitive!

I thought Jamie Forrester was a striker, he scored 4 against us 1 game, or was that just Mansfield Cant believe, I wont be in this thread much I think Daggers will struggle this year, sold a few of their good players and they only just escaped relegation, Chesterfield will do well if they still have Jack Lester, think Exeter and Aldershot will be fine. Rochdale might be a dark horse as well, if they've kept their young side together? As they have added that lad Shaw from Halifax, and he will score at this level. I predict 20th for County, you always start well and fade badly.

Harsh for Luton! Why do they get 20 extra points deducted for "failing to satisfy the League's insolvency rules"? Didn't Leeds get away with -15 for the exact same reason last season? As someone on 606 says: "It's like moving into the house of someone who's robbed a bank, being arrested for the crime yourself, being forced to plead guilty and then being sent to prison"

It does seem harsh for Luton, considering they were honest about their situation, rather than trying to cheat their way out like Leeds did.

Didnt Boston Utd get relegated a league for the same thing last year? They really need to make the punishments more transparent. The might as well have relegated Luton given how many points they're taking off them.

I can see Luton going under, they are in a precarious financial position to start with and with a -30 point penalty will be lucky to attract more than a few thousand crowd. They are as good as in the Conference / Blue Square Premier / whatever it is called this year...

Luton -30 and Bournemouth -15, 2 relegation spots sorted then!

I predict 20th for County, you always start well and fade badly. I hope we'll do better than that and would predict 12th-14th with the usual mid-season slump!

Bearing in mind Mansfield went down with 42 points last season, Luton would have to score at least 72 points to survive - the equivalent of finishing 8th.
Bournemouth would need 57, which would put them 16th before deductions. If their form at the end of last season is anything to go by, they might be OK this season.
It's worth remembering Rotherham finished 9th with 64 points AFTER a 10 point deduction.

Yeah, very true mrh, it depends if you can attract the good players though with those penalties hanging over you? I can see Bournemouth being ok, but I see no escape for Luton, it's just too massive, but maybe it will get reduced?

For some reason we've signed Muggleton. I assume it's as a coach as he would only be 3rd choice behind Hoult and Pilkington.

You actually have THREE goalies and he will be the goalkeeping coach, what I want to know is how County afford all of those wages? FOUR wages for one position, and then you finish 20th, it's no wonder you're in debt We'll be lucky to have 2 goalies

Too right, we don't need four goalies, we need a STRIKER!

I hope Bournemouth will be OK (although I don't think their penalty has been fixed yet) but I can't see Luton making up that sort of gap. Luton's biggest problem is that this is the third time in about ten years that Luton have been is serious financial trouble. It's hard to blame the League for feeling that Luton are beginning to take the p*ss.

yeah, but the old owners who dropped them in the sh*t have left with no penalty, new owners come in to save them, and get punished twice like this, it's hard to take.

I think the Football League need to think about alternative penalties like preventing clubs buying new players for a season.
Of course, in Luton's case, it's the new owners who are being punished. But if there were no penalties at all, there would probably be some dodgy deals which were dressed up to look like new owners were taking over.

We're favourites with the bookmakers but we don't have a prolific goalscorer. We do have a very good midfield though.
Also no goalkeeper yet
