Robin do you read Gavin Strachan's blog on the BBC? I'm finding it a good read every week! I haven't read this thread for ages Strachan had a column in the Guardian before he took the Celtic job which was always a very good read. Adrian Chiles once wrote a piece about him in the Independent. He said that he thought he knew a lot about the game until he worked with Strachan on MOTD2. Then he realised how he didn't really understand the game at all.

Shrewsbury had a player sent off in the third minute at Lincoln today. Perhaps he thought it was too cold. However, it reminds me of the fastest ever red card. Lee Todd of Cross Park Farm Celtic was sent off after two seconds. When the referee started the game, Todd said "F*ck me, that was loud" and was sent off for foul and abusive language. Somehow, the team still won 11-2. www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article988179.ece

This from a neutral from 1st November..
Notts County 0-1 Bury Fizzy Drink League, Programme: £2.50
The Oldest Football League Club in the World [as boasted by the PA Announcer before the game] lost once again- this time to highflyers Bury.
The game itself was 50/50 but in the last 20 minutes Notts were getting tired while the visitors were getting started, Notts were lucky that it ended 1-0, as it could have been more.
This Season the Programme has improved since last seasons publication, I also picked up the Programme against Brentford which was dominated to legend Jimmy Sirrel- who died the previous week.
Also must mention if you manage to get down to Meadow Lane this season i must recomend the Chips and Mushy Pees- A must for all Chip lovers!!!

Listening to the updates of the Gills-Chesterfield game on Radio Kent. HT Gills 2-0 up without really doing much against a very poor and dirty Chesterfield side that were described by the co-commentator (a Gills fan) as a pub team. A series of poor late challenges which the ref seemed quite lenient with. While they were talking there was another right at the end of the 1st half which sounded as if it should have been a red. Lester, who made the challenge, even had the audacity to try and approach the Gills bench as he went to the dressing room for half-time!
Hope they get well and truly thumped in the 2nd half! And one of them gets sent off too.

Darren Anderton came on as a sub and scored the winner for Bournemouth in his last game today. And Bournemouth have now finally got a positive number of points.

They were discussing Anderton on Radio Kent in their pre-match coverage and mentioned the fact that he was on the bench for Bournemouth for their match at Luton in midweek, suggesting he may have made up his mind to retire while he was actually on the bench, with the thinking "i don't need this anymore" etc etc". Its certainly unusual for a player to retire mid-season when he's not injured.

He did say he was tired of the training sessions and didn't have the motivation anymore. Great to finish on a high though! Today couldn't have gone better for him!

I hope Bournemouth manage to keep on picking up points, Grimsby can deffo be caught! Nice to see the Cheats lost today as well, 12th in the table and way off the playoffs, I just hope they have debts and go into administration, couldn't happen to a nice team.

1-1 at home against Dagenham, I just don't think we're good enough to get promoted out of this division.
Unless we can strengthen during the January transfer window anyway.

Notts County report from the 28th December. This guy not a ST holder btw. You must be glad you're not there Robin!
As a season ticket holder at Notts County I can confirm, on recent form, that even at a fiver you may not get value for money !!!
Notts County 0-3 Rotherham United Admission £5 Programme £2.50 - one of the better football league ones in my collecetion. Att 6686
I felt sorry for Notts staff and fans, they were all friendly ( from the moment I phoned to book my ticket on the 22nd) but having to watch that every week must be painful.
Action packed opening 5 minutes and the game could have been different if the old fashioned shoulder charge on the visiting keeper been allowed to stand and seconds later a decent shout for a penalty following a trip, then Utd went straight up the other end and opened the scoring when the defenders seemed immune from wanting to make a tackle.
From that moment on there was never any doubt who would win with Rotherham never needing to be out of reverse gear to hold off a woeful Notts Couty side.
Gifted 2 goals just after the restart and then it was just a case of playing out time.

Good win for Bournemouth today. They've still got a decent chance as long as they avoid going into administration again. One of the co-owners is selling up which could cause further problems.

Luton are definitely gone!
Who else?
Chester City look the most vulnerable team to me, they are struggling on the pitch and off the pitch. Most fans are certain that administration is inevitable, but will it happen this season or next?

2 wins in a row for us now including a good win at the Priestfield but we're still short of the top 3. We need a bit more of the same.

There have been rumours of admin for Chester for the last few seasons, their gates are crap and they pay high wages, someone somewhere is losing a LOT of money!
