i will probably never been able to show my face in the indie forum again after admitting this, but... "more than a feeling" by boston Nothing wrong with that! I will return a question to you.... What are you're favourite places in York? haha, i was actually hoping you would ask me this I HAVE SO MANY! in no particular order: - betty's: there's always a queue but it usually moves fast and i would wait for ages for one of their hot chocolates - king's manor: where i did my MA! it's very self-contained - they have a lovely library and a great little café, so i used to spend entire days there when i had class - the minster library: another great place to work. i used to volunteer there in my MA year - york minster chapter house: i love the whole minster - it has more medieval stained glass than any other building in the UK - but the chapter house is my favourite spot. i once went to a concert of 'spem in alium' there; easily the best choir performance i've ever been lucky enough to hear. the masons' floor above the chapter house is pretty spectacular too, but you don't often get to see it - clifford's tower: amazing medieval building - barley hall: another amazing medieval building - THE WALLS! there aren't many cities in the world where you can still walk around on the walls - the shambles (when it's not full of tourists) - stonegate and all its wonderful little shops, especially the cat shop! - st. mary's abbey and the museum gardens: wonderful place to walk around on a sunny day. had a picnic there once and now some all-important drinking venues: - evil eye: best bar in york, if not the world - guy fawkes: best pub in york, if not the world - dusk bar: amazing cocktails; not quite as amazing as the evil eye, but the 2-for-1 offer makes up for it - the artful dodger: a favoured MA hangout. the music's not to my taste but any bar that has comfy sofas and will serve you popcorn is worth a mention - the black swan: used to go here a lot as an undergrad. it's a lovely building, but there's something creepy about it if you're there when it's empty - the last drop inn: i used to go there for lunch in my undergrad days. they did amazing giant yorkshire puddings! this is REALLY making me wish i'd had the time (and money) to visit york this christmas... ah well, maybe next year

Evil eye is amazing, but dusk has too many issues, fights mainly. I don't go in anymore, music is too loud and fights happen too regularly and usually you have to carry some girl who has collapsed out of there. guy fawkes, black swan and drop inn, never been in or heard of them. artful, well, not a pub I'd want to stay in for too long, it's usually an in and out pub. Bad atmosphere. I wish I'd had the time for the sightseeing, shame a science degree means you're either in lectures, labs or doing essays .

you'll have time in the summer after you finish though, right? i've never seen a fight in or around dusk, but it is very noisy. i have a lot of good memories of hanging out with friends there, though i don't get the atmosphere thing with artful dodger, either - it always had a very relaxed atmosphere when i went. maybe it's changed since i was last there. guy fawkes is a very old and dark pub with lots of fireplaces. it's very cosy, and the food is great too. it's close to the minster - when you reach the end of stonegate, turn left (past starbucks) and after a few yards (when st. michael-le-belfrey church is on your right), it'll be on your left. i really love it, but maybe you have to be a medievalist to get the appeal black swan is on stonebow, walking away from fibbers out of town it'll be a black and white timber-framed building on your right. last drop is on colliergate, near (possibly even next to) barnitts. i like that i can still give directions after 2 years of not living there!

If I have money then yes should have a little time. First time I went in dusk some girl was carried out not conscience, then last two times fights have been starting, only cos of friends of these sparing people has stopped full on fights. Artful told us to get out when they thought a friend had thrown up...when they were sober and had just gone to toilet. So we've never had a good spot for them since then. And did you live/have friends in city, cos all my friends are up near black bull, so for ease we go there or charles XI. Deramore has shut down. The only reason I walk as far as guy fawkes is for York home games at bootham. On a fibbers note, it's gone downhill, it's always dead now. How it's not shut down do not know.

i didn't live in the city, but given that my course was at king's manor i was in the city all the time. i quite like the charles but went there maybe twice in my MA year on account of not spending much time on campus. don't think i've ever been to the black bull!

Has the sensational hat been worn since ?
If you were gonna be a contestant in Big Brother or Great British Bake Off or whatever, would you tell us Havenites ahead of time so we could tune in, or only tell us after the fact, or not at all?

I never go in this sub-forum so have only just seen this The sensational hat has indeed been worn since, I don't know if I can find the photos but it's basically the go-to wedding hat I probably wouldn't say anything. I'd wait to see if someone spotted me

If you could do a Freaky Friday-style swap with any person just for one day who would you choose?

If you could do a Freaky Friday-style swap with any person just for one day who would you choose? The most sensible answer to this question today is Vladimir Putin. On any other day, my answer would probably be J. K. Rowling. Mostly I'd have a lovely day living the life of a world-famous author, but I'd also leave some time spare to post on social media to offer a few never-before-revealed facts about the Harry Potter universe, like 'did you know Hagrid was replaced by a large block of cheddar at some point in Book 6?' Oh and I'd also take the opportunity to apologise unreservedly to my fanbase for being a transphobe.

Do you have any tattoos? If not, would you ever get one? No tattoos at the moment - I'd definitely like one, but haven't yet been able to come up with something I'd actually want written/printed on me.
