Have you ever found a message in a bottle ? If you did, would you just read it and throw it back into the sea,or would you answer it ? no, sadly - i don't live near the coast when i'm here, and we don't go to the beach very often back in somerset. i'd LOVE to find one though - and i would definitely answer it!

Q - If you were a book, which would you be? great question! i'd probably say 'gormenghast' by mervyn peake - dark, weird and full of endlessly complex twists and turns - but ultimately, not quite what i seem.

Hi G-D.. Your avatar message read's 'asleep in the back' which is an old 'Elbow' tune if I recall ?? So,where's the most random place you've managed to fall asleep ? i'm traditionally quite bad at sleeping - even in beds, sometimes - so apart from dozing off in class once, i don't think i've ever actually fallen asleep somewhere i wasn't supposed to! the weirdest place was probably in morocco when i went with a school trip - we slept in a berber camp in the middle of the desert, literally nothing but a piece of cloth on the sand under the stars. later on in the same trip we also slept on a hotel roof more questions please! ;D

How do you think you've changed as a person since first posting on Haven, many moons ago ? wow. i definitely think i've changed a lot - somewhat inevitably, because i'm in quite a formative period of my life, still. since i started posting here, i've done a degree, had a proper job, travelled to some amazing places, moved from france to england, met some wonderful people, lost others, been in a cohabiting relationship, done the better part of a masters course... there's no way any of that could have failed to impact on me! i do think i've grown up. i had a very sheltered childhood and there was a lot i was terrified of because of what i'd been brought up to believe and because i just didn't understand it. i'm still getting over that. but on the whole, i understand myself and other people - and what really matters - a lot better than i used to. i'm a lot less insecure and a lot more confident than i used to be. and i know very clearly what i want to do with my life - it's something i've got a real shot at, but also something which even a year ago i would never have thought of doing. i've finally found something i seem to be genuinely talented at, and now doing anything else with my life seems wrong. i'm less naive and more cynical, too. part of this goes with lapsing from my catholicism, but looking back many years i was never happy to call myself 100% catholic. and various difficulties that myself and my family have gone through make it harder to believe that there is a god who is prepared to intervene in human affairs. so yes, i've changed a lot... lol, bet you weren't expecting an essay...

Incredible... you post like I do ! I also like to explain myself & go into intricate detail and answer a question fully to get my point across. Not complaining though, there's not many posters who make the effort.Sometimes the best answers are those which roll into an essay formation and make interesting reading, instead of 'yes' or 'no'. Thanks for your answer. What are you views on horoscopes & astrology ?

Thanks for your answer. lol! glad it's appreciated i guess being a history graduate/masters student essay writing comes naturally! now i just have to write essays about history... interesting question. i don't believe in them - i think they're written in a clever, vague way so that anyone reading them can apply ther own circumstances to the predictions and think they're true. but i still occasionally catch myself reading them and thinking, 'hang on, that's not far off the mark...' my boyfriend and i were talking about this the other day - how even though rational thought tells us that these things cannot possibly be true, even the most cynical people often flip to the back of the magazine, just to have a look

i can sing, read music, play guitar, bake (i think he probably could but the last time he tried he gave himself food poisoning, lol), speak/understand spanish, ride horses... quite a bit, actually he's more athletic than i am - i can't run more than a few hundred metres without panting need to work on that. he's also a lot better at understanding people and the way they think (which is handy because when something silly is bothering me, he can explain why i'm being silly!). oh, and he can drive a ship
