Ruth and Rachel totally owned the younger girls today... they were fantastic!

Tonight, despite me detesting big band music, really showed the calibre of performers this year. Rachel (she's BACK! With the best performance of the night) was phenomenal! Alexandra, Laura and Ruth were great too. The girls this year all deserve to win.
Even though I didn't like either Scott or Daniel, Dan should've gone. Never mind the race card - how about playing the WIFE card. I know it's terrible his wife died but the moment he said he'd be singing for his wife, I knew he'd walk through. Let's face it. If it wasn't for his sob story, he'd not only have not survived the sing off but he wouldn't be in the Top 12 at ALL.

Why did Simon say that Rachel deserves a break more than the others? The others after all have managed to get to this stage in their lives without committing crimes, being sent to prison, taking drugs and being irresponsible enough to get pregnant at 13,have five kids at an early age, and having three of them in care now. How come they should be penalised for knowing how to behave themselves? Really annoyed both me and my wife last night. As Nita says, it's giving the message that doing wrong is fine when it's not.

He should drop the dead wife sob story now but let's face it, without it he'd be ou already!

I've thought all along that Daniel has a very limited vocal range, so I'd be gobsmacked if it got say to the quarter finals milking the "dead wife" story till it runs dry. It takes away the whole point of The X Factor being a "talent" show when it's more about the sob stories. Thing is, each week there's always one new sob story that gets unearthed. This week it was one member of JLS who said his mother had some illness. So having an ill mum means you're a really talented singer, does it? Irony being JLS gave their worst vocal performance tonight. Scrap the sob stories, and let's focus on what really counts - the vocals. We don't want another Leon Jackson winning the show. I hope to God he was a one off...I'd even regard Steve Brookstein as more talented than him. Each to their own though. :-\ Best last night for me was Laura, Diana, Ruth. I originally predicted Alexandra to win this years show, but to be totally honest I've been underwhelmed with her since the live finals started. I think she'll last for a while yet, but I don't think she'll be in the final 2 anymore - probably finish 3rd. Austin Vs Laura in the final is my prediction now. Laura to win. I prefer Diana overall though, but she's got no chance.

Scott and Daniel bottom two - I really liked the first verse of 'I Can't Make You Love Me' but ,for me,it went downhill from the chorus onwards.Still, not bad over all. I've never heard of (the original of) Daniels song.I thought it sounded mostly awful but got better as it went on (except for that emotional gasp as he finished). I don't believe for one minute that Louis genuinely preferred Daniels last performance to Scotts.
'Hero' - I used to like that song when it was a new single by Mariah, but it got so overplayed (and still turns up on radio nowadays) that I got fed up of it. The X Factor Finalists version sounds good, but because it's that song,I don't care if last night was the only time I ever hear it. I didn't notice that Daniel and Ruth were missing !

I thought Eoghan was easily the worst this week, what's with all this praise from the judges, I couldn't believe it, are my ears different to theirs?!!

Passed the bookies earlier and Daniel's the favourite to go next Saturday followed by Ruth.

I was shocked that Daniel went over Scott, although Scott was convinced himself that he would be safe. I thought they were done with sob stories - it's not like it's "Sob Story Factor (With A Bit of Singing)" Although very much looking forward to the train wreck that will be Daniel on disco week I think it is becoming difficult to call between Ruth, Rachel, Diana, Alexandra and Laura for the best act in the competition, but it is clear that the 5 females are significantly better than all of the remaining males. Austin has been such a disappointment in the last 2 weeks IMO - it's like he loses his way in the big moments in the songs, which is when he needs to nail it Al/Admin - any chance of editing the first post to put up the poll? Thanks

I though Eoghan's performance was cringeworthy. Why all the judges said he was cute/adorable etc, I'll never know!
