i think things will really pick up next week
i honestly think the worst performance the first week was better than the best performance this week

Well, no prizes for predicting that Latoya is going to go through, the question now is who will go with her...I don't have a clue, really. Certainly a much better group than last week, only Jonah was pretty sh*t on the whole. I didn't think Lisa was as good as Simon made out, but she wasn't bad at all.

Well I won't spoil it by saying who goes through, but here are my rankings
1. LaToya London 2. Leah Wladowski/Labelle 3. Amy Adams 4. Elizabeth LeTendre 5. Eric Yoder 6. Charly Lowry 7. Jon Peter Lewis 8. Jonah Moananu
But Fantasia now has competition, and I see most of the wildcards coming from heats 1 and 3!

Leah, not Lisa... Oh, and Elizabeth certainly didn't have the legs for that skirt she was wearing...

Both girls doing Whitney songs actually DID make the songs their own... which was nice...

David, do you know if when they are about to announce the third person - is the person who DOESN'T go through (in other words Leah this week), are they the contestant who come fourth? I think I've worded that really badly...

I think I've worded that really badly... I don't know for certain, but I've always suspected so, it's always been someone who was good

I don't know for certain, but I've always suspected so, it's always been someone who was good but isn't that just to build up the tension. btw. why do they make it so 3rd from last announced always know they are going through/not going through?

Just watched this tonight. My order of preference was
1. LaToya London 2. Amy Adams 3. Elizabeth LeTendre 4. Leah Labelle 5. Charly Lowry 6. Eric Yoder 7. Jon Peter Adams 8. Jonah Moananu
I hated all the guys really, & wasn't that impressed by Charly, but the top 4 were fabulous, I hope Leah & Elizabeth get a shot at the wildcard.

It's turning into a very female dominated contest so far...I hope a few more guys get in over the next couple of weeks.

It's turning into a very female dominated contest so far...I hope a few more guys get in over the next couple of weeks. In fairness though, there's a reason for this... the guys have just not been good enough... and I can't see that changing... George Huff has a good chance next week I feel, as has John Stevens, but they're gonna have to bring it... As for the wildcard, there hasn't been enough male talent to justify a male bias in that show (last year's wildcard was 7 female, 2 male) though I suspect they might bring Michael Keown back... A rumour I heard was that ALL the third placers would be brought back (a similar system to that used in Canadian Idol), which would mean that Matt Metzger, Lisa Leuschner and Jon Peter Adams would be in, even if they don't necessarily deserve to be there!

but isn't a female bias more of a help than a male bias in making sure more men get through?
because the votes for males will be less split

but isn't a female bias more of a help than a male bias in making sure more men get through? because the votes for males will be less split Well in the wildcard only one person goes through on public vote, the rest are judge picks, last year they had 3 girls through from the heats and 5 guys, so they got to balance it out by loading the wildcard with women... As for the female bias helping guys get through, that's really worked thus far (all the semis are 5-3 female to male, yet only one guy is through... And yes John Stevens is the ginger guy, the reason I think he may go through is the heavy coverage he's had, as has George, despite his being cut previously...

Latoya was amazing I thought! ;D What a VOICE! Good show from the girls this week, I though the boys were rather poor though Especially Jonah. I'm real surprised that Jon made it int the final 3 I felt sorry for Leah, you could tell she was gutted Although I do agree with Xerox in that she wasn't as good as Simon made her out to be. Elizabeth and Amy were also VERY good - they easily beat all the contestants from last week!

Simon did say that Leah had the POTENTIAL to be the best but something was wrong. IMO that would be the harshness of her voice, she needs to learn to tone it down into something more pleasant & emotive.

I kind of like the edge to Leah's voice though, it didn't QUITE work with a Whitney uberballad, but with the right song choices it would be dynamite!

Yes I agree, I hope she comes back in the wildcard round, doing an edgier song.

I j ust thought she sang a little nasal?? I don't think it was nasal, it's just her voice I think, a little bit raspy I guess... there's some people who have technically excellent voices (like LaToya London) and there are others who never will be perfect technically, but bring something else to the table (such as Fantasia Barrino), Leah for me falls into the second category...
