Oh well we're already bottom. Hope Notts County really are that good and not that we really are that bad but I suspect both... Fantastic performance by Notts, disappointed I couldn't attend but hopefully there is much more to come this season. I do agree with your comments though, one match is not enough to tell whether Notts really are that good of Bradford are rather poor! Personally I don't think Thorne and Boulding up front is the best combination for you! Thorne must be past it by now at 36!

When a club comes out of administration they have to get the agreement of their creditors to avoid a further points deduction. HMRC are duty-bound to reject anything other than payment of debts in full. So, if they are a major creditor, agreement will not be reached as happened with clubs like Bournemouth and Rotherham. Darlington seem to be the first team to come out of administration and avoid a further deduction.

The reason Bournmouth, Rotherham, Luton and Leeds were deducted further points was because they failed to come out of administration by a set deadline, failure to do so is another points deduction. Darlington came out of administration a few days before their deadline and got their 'Golden Share' by the Football League. How they did it i don't know but both the CVA and the league were happy, maybe it had something to do with Darlington entering voluntary administration rather than in most cases being forced, or as far as i know Darlington's creditors accepted receiving less than a 9p for every pound they are owed.
Darlington are not the first team to avoid a further points deduction...
i am no expert and there are probably more but Wrexham in 2004, Rotherham in 2006 both avoided further deductions...any further back in time there wasn't a points deduction for going into administration nevermind a further deduction! dozens of teams got away with it. Leicester City, Notts County, Boston, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Bradford, Ipswich, Huddersfield Town, Swindon etc

It was Leicester who forced the ruling bodies to change the rules after they went into administration and won promotion to the Premier League in the same season.

Well blow me, we've only gone and broken the club transfer record and signed Kasper Schmeichel for well over £1 million!

Rather a strange career move for him to go to a league 2 club. Either money based or he'll be wanting a loan transfer to a club at least 2 divisions higher.

He obviously feels there is rather a lot of potential at the club! He probably won't be the only big(ish) signing either before the end of the season!

Well if they struggle getting in the team, loan a few of them to us

From what i've read Peter Thorne is struggling this season, he is 36 after all so it's not that surprising. Michael Boulding banged in the goals pre-season but he's yet to open his account in the league. A goal will give you some confidence back and players like Boulding have got to deliver.
Re: Notts playing Chesterfield tonight. I think we may struggle to break them down. I'm going for 1-1

That is a silly amount of money to be throwing around in League 2, just hope the new owners dont do a runner if you dont get promoted this season... Plus, what is wrong with your current keepers, hardly letting the goals in are they? Notts County, the new Chelsea of the lower leagues...

Building for the long-term. Russell Hoult is 35 and not quite as agile as he used to be and Kevin Pilkington is past it! He'll possibly be loaned at somewhere this season

I don't see that much of a problem signing Schmeichel. He's a fantastic keeper with a great future and is much better than what you have. Ok he cost a lot but if you have ambitions try and get get player as good as you can. He's clearly one for the long term and £1-1.5m isn't exactly extortionate, given that if County do ever get to the Premiership, there's a good chance of him being there and £1.5m to get three divisions isn't bad at all. If he's not then I'm sure he'll have been sold at a profit.

Finally made it along to a game on Saturday - Notts County v Dagenham & Redbridge
Overall, it was a good game with both teams showing why they're near the top of the division playing good flowing football. Kasper Schmeichel made his debut in goal for Notts but was only really troubled on one occasion as the defence comfortably dealt with everything that D&R threw at them. He still managed to show his class with some highly accurate distribution that immediately put Notts on the attack. Notts looked a strong team in every department with Hughes & Hawley in particular upfront just showing that extra bit of class that enabled them to create a number of goal scoring opportunities. Best goal was Johnnie Jackson (on his home debut), running through the defence before slotting it past the keeper.
Notts finished the game comfortable 3-0 winners and by the 70th minute the game was pretty much over with D&R realising they weren't going to get back into the game!
Credit to both teams for a clean game, I'm sure Notts will be up there this season, would be nice to see D&R challenging as well!

They're D&R and they put 5 past Shrewsbury a few days before so they are not to be taken lightly.
We put 5 past Cheltenham too of course, but they also put 4 past us. Certainly exciting for the neutral but not sure there were many neutrals watching (other than the goals program on TV afterwards).
At least we have shown we have the capability to get goals in some of the younger players. If you can't score, you really do have a problem. Hopefully we can sort out the defensive problems but I think we were too quick to get rid of some players pre-season.

League Two is off to a flyer this season.
There's no doubt that Notts County will bring extra media attention (and attendances) to the division this year. Any 5-4 has to be worth watching, and Bradford look like they have joined the road to recovery at last. Burton appear to have comfortably handled both the step up, and the managerial transition. My personal favourites at this tier, Bournemouth, have also started well.

Notts County might be looking at Sol Campbell, I mean, come on!

As a County fan said, your defence is solid, so save the money for when you need it, ie injuries and stuff, it's not as if Sol Campbell is one for the future is it?

Well he's signing today! A two year playing contract, I believe! I do see your point though, the defence is good enough already but we're a little lacking in terms of depth. Unfortunately Edwards or Thompson will have to make way for him in the team. Also it's difficult to comment on money because no one is sure how much the Munto Finance group are planning on investing in the club! It makes a bit of a mockery of the so called League 2 wage cap though!!! Interesting to know how they got round this one but there are obviously a lot of loop holes in the rule.

3rd 5-4 in my memory as a supporter, and the second time we have been on the right end. The first was against Brentford in our title-winning season of 1984-85 at home. We were 0-3 down, came back to 3-3 then went 3-4 behind, but went on to win 5-4.
Our second was in our first premiership year at West Ham where we led 4-2 away only to lose 5-4.
