I know we have a athletics thread but this merits a special thread! Congratulations to Usain Bolt who has just smashed the 100m world record with another incredible performance! He's only 22 as well, he could perhaps dominate for years! A great achievement and a great personality to boost the sport as well!

That's just unreal. Sprints are supposed to be close but he won easily.

One of the most amazing pieces of sporting history I've ever seen. Bolt could be this century's equivalent of Muhammad Ali, such is the way he transcends sport. Tyson Gay looked like he was in a daze after the race. He couldn't believe he'd run 9.71 and still lost by over a tenth of a second. Here's a great clip of the guys in the BBC studio watching the race. Just watch Michael Johnson's face... news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/8204766.stm

And he still didn't manage a very good start - he was 3rd or 4th after 10 metres. He is phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.

He is one crazily lucky guy, but he can be a little cocky too.
Great performance though.

It was simply incredible. Anyone who can do that can be as cocky and arrogant as they like really, you'd expect them to be a bit cocky at least. Phenomenal talent, I can't wait to see him go faster!

I didn't see his 200m world record but, as hoped, did see the 100m final along with some heats from both events. Felt priviliged to have watched the best 100m race of all-time!

I want to see him have a go at the 400m and the Long Jump at some point. Hopefully next year when there are no majors other than Commonwealth Games and he'll win that running backwards !!
