We are underway with the first test at the Centurion.
Team news for South Africa, Steyn is injured so will not be playing. In comes the interestingly named Friedel de Wet!
England won the toss and decided to field.

Unbeaten century for Kallis.
Advantage SA.

If we turn out to be tripe, can the sports personality team award be handed back?

Duminy gone for 56.
Collingwood's 4th catch of the innings! I wonder what the record is for a non-wicketkeeper...
318-6

Still, decent position to be in at close on day 2, but looks like there's rain on the way...

It will be a draw in the end. Both sets of bowling attacks are well below par..

Hmmm 176-4, i'd be happy with 300 as the pitch is starting to turn!

Our tail is wagging. Swann & Anderson now have the biggest partnership of the innings.

South Africa 9-1 at the close, a lead of 71.
Is it too much to think that England could win this ? A better bowling performance could leave them with a target below 300.
To me, it now looks more likely that this game will have a result than end in a draw.

It's possible for England to win, it'd be a reasonable run chase on a 4th/5th day pitch... the bowlers would have to pull one out of the bag, like Shireblogger says.

Time to resurrect this thread. We're 1-0 up in the series and well placed in the 3rd test match.
279-6. If we can knock em over for less than 350 I reckon we can do the same as the last test match.

It was good start today but I think we let SA off the hook a bit.
