This starts on Friday, and is taking place in the West Indies. As "the 2008 Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan was postponed due to security concerns and there was a need to correct the international cricketing tournament calendar" (according to Wikipedia), this tournament is thus taking place only 10 months after the last one.
There are 4 groups of 3 teams, with the top 2 from each group going through to the Super 8:
Group A Pakistan (1) Bangladesh (9) Australia (10)
Group B Sri Lanka (2) New Zealand (5) Zimbabwe
Group C South Africa (3) India (7) Afghanistan
Group D West Indies (4) England (6) Ireland
There is no #8 seed as Ireland (who are a non-test-playing nation) reached the Super 8 last year.

There is no #8 seed as Ireland (who are a non-test-playing nation) reached the Super 8 last year. But there is a #9 and #10 seed. That's logic for you.

There are 4 groups of 3 teams, with the top 2 from each group going through to the Super 8: One of the features of the Twenty20 World Cup is that the structure is well geared for some shocks and surprise exits. Bangladesh through at the expense of holders Pakistan - not entirely implausible. Ireland eliminating England - could happen.

I'm very interested to see how Afghanistan go. They've come a very long way in a short space of time.
Are there any highlights on terrestrial TV?

England losing in that manner was a disgrace. You could see the rain coming so easy to throw your bat for 5 overs

Group B: New Zealand (36/1 from 8.1 overs) beat Zimbabwe (84 all out from 15.1 overs) by 7 runs (D/L). New Zealand reach last eight, Zimbabwe are out.
Group D: No result between England (120/8 from 20 overs) and Ireland (14/1 from 3.3 overs). England thus reach last eight (without winning a match), Ireland are out (due to England's superior net run rate).

Tournament hasn't really stimulated much interest yet.
Perhaps it is the bad weather, and the forced results / non-results ?
Perhaps it is the fact that none of the minnows even came close to springing a surprise ?
Perhaps it is too soon after the last T20 WC ?
Perhaps it is the fact that it is not available on free-to-air tv ?
Hopefully, England's fine win over Pakistan is the start of something good in this cricket format.

These are the biggest reasons for me. I'm not bothered about it being so close to the last one. I'd happily have a World T20 every year if it meant scrapping the Champions Trophy.
