just start watching epi 1 but didn't understand a thing I thought it was kinda difficult to follow if you haven't read the books (I haven't) so who were the super blonde ones?? they appeared on the epi out of the blue and there seems to be no connection at all with the other story... I'm LOST!!!!! by 'super blonde' i guess you mean the really really creepy guy (viserys) and his sister (daenerys), who he wants to marry off to the big muscly dude on the horse (khal drogo of the dothraki)... they are the last surviving members of the targaryen family, who used to rule the seven kingdoms of westeros (where the starks, the lannisters, king robert and all the rest of them live). their father (king aerys, 'the mad king') was overthrown and killed by king robert (the big fat dude with the beard back in westeros). viserys and daenerys went into exile, which is why they live across the sea in a completely different continent, but they see themselves as the rightful ruling family, so they're plotting to come back eventually. viserys is obsessed with this, which is why he keeps referring to himself as the rightful king and he marries his sister off to khal drogo, because the dothraki have a big army and could help him defeat king robert. i hope that helps clear it up! i'm a massive geek and could probably tell you everything you never wanted to know about the books

Viserys got what he wanted anyway, a lovely helmet, just he didnt expect it that way.
Despite it getting a bit boring, its definitely got me gripped again.
Just shows that you cant trust anyone.

yeah, i think last week's episode was all about introductions - reminding people where the characters from last season are now, and introducing the new ones. not a great episode in its own right but necessary so that you remember who's who, i guess.
as a fan of the books i was really impressed with the casting of the new characters - stannis baratheon, davos seaworth and melisandre.

hardly a surprise as there are so many books to go still, but it's just been confirmed that it's been picked up for a 3rd season

i'm not sure. i don't know if you've read the books (so i don't want to spoil it for you!) but there is a pretty major plot event towards the end of book 3 which completely changes everything, so they might split it in two so as to enable the build up to that to go a bit more slowly. but then again, from what i've seen of the trailers for series 2, they are moving things along a bit faster than expected, so i have no idea... one good reason for them to keep the split in book 3 in the TV series might be because he seems to be taking ages to write the books and at this rate they will run out of books to film before he finishes book 6

^haven't read book 3, I'm about to start book 3 part 1... so this big thing that changes everything is at the end of part 1 or at the end of part 2??
I've noticed that for s02 they're not following the book as much as s01, I remember the pilot episode (s01e01) was following the book like a carbob-copy almost line by line... but s02 has started very differently from the book... for instance, John Snow and co are already at the house of that man that marries his daughters, I'm sure that happened much later in the book and it took a while for them to get there

end of part 2, i think. yeah, you're right - things do seem to be moving more quickly, which is why i'm not sure how they'll do season 3...
