The VoiceIs the new USA music talent show that is supposed to be more credible, yet more ironic than American Idol & the imminent X Factor USA. The show starts April 26th in the US/Canada on NBC with mentors Christina Aguilera; Cee-Lo Green; Adam Levine (Maroon 5) & country singer Blake Shelton. The show will be hosted by Carson Daly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqd-eSC_O7UThe Voice TV ad The Voice - Crazy I'd love to see the so called X-Factor UK judges attempt to sing a song to promote past series. I could have done with a laugh. There are unconfirmed reports of a bidding war between Channel 4; Channel 5 & Sky to syndicate it in the UK. Do you think it looks better than X-Factor or not?

just watched, not bad, at least the format was kinda different, ratings were around 11k so half of AI standards...

I just finished watching it too, none of the contestants really stood out imo.

yes, so far none of the contestants was amazing imho... the guy who sang Time After Time was the only one charting on Itunes (the songs are available and allowed to chart for some reason), but didn't see any appeal on him... but maybe next week...
I think they should have waited til AI is over... not sure if people are gonna watch 2 singing contests at the same time...

just watched epi 2, I kinda liked it, pity the castings are done cos that what made the show different compared to AI, XF, etc... think Cee Loo has the best bunch, Adam too... but Christina just picked 7 girls that all sing the same way... and the country guy picked 8 country artists

Not looking good for Christina and Blake with their teams imo. But I think the second ep showed some contestants with more potential than the first. And it's ratings went up for the second episode too So this really is proving to be a smash, even though it's still on during American Idols run (probably because people have given up hope on the lousy AI contestants left). This may well have stolen the thunder from X Factor.

This is apparently getting great viewing figures and I would love it to come to the UK. Wouldn't this be a great fit for Sky 1 now that they aren't reprising their recent reality singing show? I just really like the fact that the show doesn't look to exploit people for a laugh - all the contestants can actually sing so they have been 'filtered' how X factor should have been doing it all these years. Would love this to overshadow X Factor US...

So would I, especially as future episodes bring on the mentors assistants of the calibre of Producer Adam Blackstone (Adam Levine); Sia Furler (Xtina); Monica (Cee Lo) & country legend Reba McEntire (Blake Shelton).
With American Idol raising its game massively this series (how good was Sheryl Crow as a guest mentor this week; Lady GaGa mentoring next week); and such a poor line up for US X-Factor (Cowell; LA Reid; Cheryl Cole (I'm still in shock over this appointment) & to be confirmed Paula Abdul with Steve Jones as the host), I really hope the Americans desert it as they've clearly got better alternatives now.
Especially as the online poll carried out by USA's Billboard.com showed a 78% disapproval rating for the appointment of the former member of Girls Aloud, which the UK media have ignored (funny that!).

Fox will need subtitles for Cole. The Americans apparently couldn't understand Vernon Kay so I'm not hopeful they will understand Cole. To be honest, I think Cowell's ego has completely gotten out of hand with X Factor US and he probably deserves a flop...

To be honest, I think Cowell's ego has completely gotten out of hand with X Factor US and he probably deserves a flop... The same happened with Ant & Dec's one attempt to break the USA when they hosted the gameshow "Wanna Bet". It was axed after one series due to poor ratings as Americans could not understand the two Geordie presenters. And unlike Cheryl Cole, Ant & Dec are great at what they do.

with Steve Jones as the host) I thought the co-hosts were going to be Nicole Scherzinger & Corbin Bleu

I really liked the auditions but this week's epi was kinda boring, and they're gonna do the same for 3 more weeks til the show starts properly, bit of a drag...

I really like the voice. I like that they picked the singers to stay by just there Voice and not there looks.

too slow by now, they made a mistake in doing at this pace of 4 songs per day... and in many cases, especially in the first epi of the cuts (last week), they were clearly choosing by the looks and not by the voice anymore...

The Voice actually started in the Netherlands. The BBC are rumoured to be thinking of a UK version next year.

watched this week's epi... mmmm think the judges are too nice, they only say positive things, wish they were more critic (for instance, Xenia was flat as a pancake but everyone praised her like if she was the next big thing... Dia was great but there are 578789034 youtubes doing the same thing before her)
and also it seems to me this is Christina's show... like she's the boss and biggest attraction...
