I love 'Will 2K', although I have to admit that's partly because of the thought of people who take The Clash too seriously being really annoyed about it. Not entirely though.

Will 2k? I thought rap was meant to involve clever wordplay and rhyme. It's not even a pun. May as well have something called "Wrench Biscuit". Always thought he was a twunt.

The millennium ends with Westlife at #1, Cliff at #2 with Millennium Prayer... two songs to make the Artful Dodger featuring Craig David "Re-re wind, when the crowd says bo selecta" sound like a classic.

Will Smith is the worst rapper ever, he should stick to acting... well, he's not even good at that

How about Bizarre from D12? He must be right down there in terms of hopeless rappers.

11TH DECEMBER- RE-REWIND THE CROWD SAY BO-SELECTA- Artful Dodger With Craig David ( 3 weeks)As I write this I imagine a piano tinckling away in the background playing "My Way" because dear readers the end is near! Time for one final review of those 90s Number two hits. Being a pretty good indication of how 2000 and indeed 2001 would pan out here's David before he became that Bo-Selecta parody (a series which naturally took its title from this hit) that effectively ruined his career by the middle of the 00s. At the time I loathed this record with a passion (I recall saying that if I was to end up in hell then this would be on the radio) but I don't know maybe nostalgia is catching up with me but it didn't seem SOOOO bad now. A debut hit for both Artful Dodger (who would go on to make the sublime "Twentyfourseven" with Melanie Blatt in 2001) and David, it is commonly credited with the point that garage crossed into the mainstream and did seem to genuinely appear from nowhere in December 99 to end up as one of the year's big sellers. I'm no fan of garage and certainly if I had written this back in 99 it would have got a slating but let's be honest so much worse has come since this, I think I found it deeply irritating, repetitive and gimmicky, that's still there on repeateded exposure I don't doubt but hearing it for the first time in some 5 or 6 years I'm willing to forgive it slightly. Not enormously representative of the 90s like Jason Donovan was of the 80s (well producer wise anyway) but Will Smith, Emma Bunton & Artful Dodger do demonstrate the great diversity the UK charts back in the 90s.

My thanks to all of you who continue to comment through both the 80s and 90s it has by and large been a pleasure to do!

Poor Craig David. Bo Selecta turned out to be the millstone round the neck of his career
Thanks for all your hard work Gezza

I think David ruined his own career by being a bit of a tosser. Five minute wonder who outstayed his welcome and who never moved on. After all, Elton John seems to have survived Leigh Francis without much of a problem.

I do like Re-rewind I was a big fan of Craig David when he started, really liked his first 3 singles, all fantastic, especially Walking Away... but his debut album was pretty bad apart from the singles, and what followed was even worst...

I think the problem was partly that, after a few singles he stopped having a compulsory section in that tracks where he'd go "Craig Daaaaavid", and the music was so bland and generic that it was impossible to remember who was singing.

Jason Derulo has taken over that mantle with most of his singles having him calling his name out for some reason

funnily I once met Craig David on a plane in the US, in one of those little planes that sit like 10 people and do little distances within the US, he was solo + a rack with cazillions of clothes that he carried as hand lugagge he was nice enough, I still have his autograph somewhere

I was surprised that he was flying on his own without manager/assistants... and that no one recognized him
