Right, where was I up to? Page 12, bit of catching up to do!
Lisa Maffia - All OverI honestly cannot remember this at all. I know I thought it was terrible at the time though.
Craig David and Sting - Rise And FallI was annoyed no end that this borefest almost made #1 and the Sugababes infinitely superior take on the song only made #11. It was a crime then, and it's still one now. This song is rubbish.
Big Brovaz - Favourite ThingsI loathed them, and still do - except Baby Boy which was surprisingly good. This was the worst of the lot though, just pipping Nu Flow to that title.
Girls Aloud - No Good AdviceFinally something good! Not one of their best imo, but it's aged okay and I still enjoy listening to it.
Justin Timberlake - Rock Your BodyNot as good as his previous two, but still good. I preferred next single Senorita which missed the top 10. Was never keen on his second album even though most consider it a masterpiece. I find it over-indulgent and pretentious.
S Club - Say Goodbye/Love Ain't Gonna Wait For YouSay Goodbye was pap, I liked the other song a lot though.
Fast Food Rockers - The Fast Food SongAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
Madonna - HollywoodBenny Bennasi - SatisfactionDon't like these one bit. Just irritating.
Lumidee - Never Leave YouOh oh oh-ohhhhhhh! I still really like this song! There's just something infectious about it and whilst usually I totally agree with the reggae/dancehall dislike, this was a storming little song.
Ultrabeat - Pretty Green EyesAh, this song, one of my favourite ever dance tracks. I know there's nothing overly special about it, but there's a joy within it that I instantly feel. I charted it for months and months, but I don't think it ever got higher than #5 on my chart.
Lemar - Dance (With U)Didn't like this one bit, but liked 50/50 and everyone knows If There's Any Justice is a bit of a under-known classic. Shame he couldn't keep up with the success of that song.
Dido - White FlagI actually prefer Life For Rent, it's my favourite of the three - and this song had a bit of a personal meaning with an ex a few years after it originally came out, so I love it unconditionally. I think it's very underrated in terms of meaning and emotion.
Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA ExI had a straight-boy-esque crush on her for a while when I was younger, and I really wanted her to do well after S Club split. Then this. I was so disappointed.
Now, I realise it's a decent tune and she's just not up to the challenge, but I was disheartened. The follow up was even worse. Still, least she got Some Girls right. Now that is a tune and a half.
The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called LoveI had a long standing thought that I hated The Darkness. In truth, I love Growing On Me, Love Is Only A Feeling, and like most of their other songs. However, this has to be in my top 10 least favourite songs EVER. It's hideous and overly popular and makes me want to scream. I saw them live last year, and left when they started this. Awful.
Beyonce feat. Sean Paul - Baby BoyI know it must have been hard to follow up Crazy In Love, but this was about the worst she could have picked. Dire track. Thankfully she eventually released something spectacular with Irreplaceable and has rarely put a foot wrong since.
Kevin Lyttle - Turn Me OnMore reggae-like garbage. Ugh. Saying that, I did like Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go" which was vaguely similar, but was subtle and therefore enjoyable. This was way too in your face.
Blue - GuiltyGary Barlow wrote this? Explains why I can't stand it. His songwriting skills are rather overrated, with only the occasional song of his actually standing out. Should have gone with the majesty of Breathe Easy for the lead single - would have gone beautifully in the wintertime, and it was the first brilliant song they'd had in ages.
Blazin' Squad - Flip ReverseI have a confession - I used to really like Blazin' Squad
...up until this song. This marked their terrible decline in my books, compared to the likes of Love On The Line, Where The Story Ends and We Just Be Dreaming (which I realise now aren't that great but have fun nostalgia attached to them)
Britney and Madonna - Me Against The MusicJust to be contrary, I love this. It's a mess, but a glorious mess. Definitely better than anything from American Life, and coming after INAGNYAW and Boys, it was a welcome return to form for Britney. The second song here to make #1 in my charts, after White Flag.
Girls Aloud - JumpI really liked this. It was no Life Got Cold which I ADORED, but it was better than The Show which followed it. It still sounds great which is always nice (I had a Girls Aloud singles marathon earlier and it's definitely not near the bottom of the list there)
Shane Richie - I'm Your ManAt the time, I thought I liked it, until I realised I just liked the song and it had been done better before. I instantly got annoyed with it.
Black Eyed Peas - Shut UpA disappointment after Where Is The Love, and the start of my frustrating love/hate relationship with them. For every Don't Phunk With My Heart, there's a My Humps. For every Meet Me Halfway, there's a I'mma Be. No sense of quality control from them, and Fergie is never used correctly. Hearing her sing Guns N Roses makes you realise what a voice she really has.
The Darkness - Christmas TimeI said I like The Darkness really, but this song might join I Believe... another terrible mess. I'd seen Donnie Darko not long before and was definitely in the Mad World camp. I didn't expect Mad World to win either, since it featured on the latest Now CD about a month before release!
Kelis - MilkshakeStraddles the line between genius and irritating.
Ronan Keating - She Believes (In Me)I was one of those terrible people who liked some of his songs once he reached this stage of his career, but this wasn't included in them. (We've Got Tonight, The Long Goodbye, and Last Thing On My Mind are in the list)
Jamelia - Thank YouSuperstar went from super to superannoying, and this did it too but even quicker. It was too serious for my liking, and I preferred the later singles like Stop and See It In A Boy's Eyes. As you mentioned, Beware Of The Dog was also a stunning song. She was too forgettable to really make it though.
D-12 - My BandI disliked this intensely and still do. Comedy rap just leaves me cold, and Eminem is awful for it. The likes of The Real Slim Shady, Just Lose It and Without Me... *shudder*
It's even worse that this was followed by How Come, another song about the group themselves, which was much more powerful and affecting.
Not a brilliant collection really, mostly a bunch of tracks that did better than much more deserving singles because they were released before them.
