Rate these Beatles Number Ones from 01 -10. I've included Twist and Shout (lead song on #1 EP), Please Please M2 (#1 on some Uk charts) and Strawbbery Field Forever, the other side of the US #1 Penny Lane. All the rest are from "1".
I'll keep this open for 2 weeks.

The ABBA ratings was more popular. Perhaps I should have had this opened for 3 days - and got a flurry of activity after the closing date....The Beatles aren't too popular around here....

The Beatles are enormously popular at Haven. They won the Battle of the Bands competition in 2010, and they were one of the first elected to the Haven Hall of Fame. Perhaps it's this rating thread that isn't so popular.

You didn't leave this open long enough, and I didn't get to see it. I can understand Yellow Submarine coming last but Day Tripper is a classic and I'd have given that a very high rating. s

Five votes? Agree that it should have been left open longer - I've only just seen it.

Everything has to be scored on a Beatles scale, of course.
2 Twist and Shout. (Will get my bottom vote. Not even their own song) 6 Love Me Do 6 Please Please Me 7 From Me To You 4 She Loves You 3 I Want To Hold Your Hand 7 Can't Buy Me Love 6 A Hard Day's Night 6 I feel Fine 5 Eight Days a Week
9 Ticket to Ride 8 Help 9 Yesterday 10 Day Tripper 8 We Can Work it out 7 Paperback Writer 5 Yellow Submarine 10 Eleanor Rigby 9 Penny Lane 10 Strawberry Fields Forever
10 All You Need is Love 3 Hello, Goodbye 8 Lady Madonna 8 Hey Jude 7 Get Back 6 The Ballad of John and Yoko 8 Something 7 Come Together 6 Let it Be 9 The Long and Winding Road
You will see that my favourite Beatles era runs from 1965 to 1967 (other than the #1 right at the end of that year). Before then most of their music was rather twee. After it, their music was good but not as good as during that era.

^ My favourite period too, actually more 1965-66 for The Beatles. 1963-64, The "Beatlemania" peiod with the 'yeah yeah yeah' stuff. Then 1967 onwards a bit too taking themselves seriously.

I think it's terrible. There are only about eight words in it and Phil Spector was well past his best by the time he got his hand on the knobs. Trite and dull, it wouldn't have sounded out of place being performed by the Andrews Sisters thirty years before.
I note though that three of my four favourites were not official UK number ones...although as regards "Please Please Me" at least someone needs to rectify that particular re-writing of history.
