I have just got back from seeing Ash celebrate 20 years of being a band tonight and Im pretty certain they are the band I have seen live the most and the figure is probably around the 20 mark. I didnt actually see them until 2001 either.
Also up there for me would be Kaiser Chiefs and Less Than Jake, although I did see them 6 nights running which boosts them.

You lucky thing! I've seen Ash many times (mostly in their early years) and wish I could have been there tonight.
Not surprisingly, the band I have seen most are Suede. I've seen them around 40 times.

If you count The Wedding Present and Cinerama as the same (the later Wedding Present were certainly the same band as Cinerama) then that may be, or possibly Clint Boon Experience (which I wouldn't count as the same band as Inspiral Carpets whom I also saw once).
I used to see these bands multiple times. Don't know which one I ended up seeing more.

yep, biffy for me too. i've seen them i think 4 times if you count appearances at festivals. i was supposed to see them when they did their 'only revolutions' tour but couldn't make it  also seen muse 3 times, and elbow 3 times. incredibly annoyingly they did a gig one-off in swindon which is right down the road from me, but i didn't find out it was on until it had sold out  |

I've now seen them four times. Other bands / singers I've seen at least ten times include PJ Harvey, Buffalo Tom, Kitchens Of Distinction. I've seen Ash, Blur, Oasis, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen at least half a dozen times. |

Tori Amos... about 30 times!! Damien Rice... about 15 times... and the Swell Season... about 10 times!!!

I've seen them around 40 times. It was a good night. Half of Bloc Party came on and did two songs whilst Grant from Feeder did a Nirvana cover with them. I wish I had seen Suede more but amazingly I have only really got into them in recent years but saw them at the O2 and at Brixton. They are a great live band and look forward to seeing them again. Also festival shows are included for me as its still seeing a band live. I have seen The Pipettes a lot and might be into double figures with them and I might be into double figures with Idlewild as well. |

I was at the O2 Suede gig and all three of the Brixton ones. I also went to the original reunion gig at the Albert Hall having been to their final gig at the Astoria before they split. That and the Albert Hall gig were both emotional occasions. For several of their early gigs I was able to turn up on the day and pay at the door before they started to get more successful.
The Ash night sounds great. Perhaps they can do it again next year for their 21st birthday. Given how long they've been around it seems strange that the members are still in their mid-30s.

Yes its amazing how long they have been together. Very few bands start so young and keep going and Tim doesnt really look any older than he did when they started. Doesnt seem like they will be stopping anytime soon either which is good as they are still one of the best bands around.

I've probably said it on here, certainly I've said it somewhere - they should have been given a sitcom. Their in-song banter was the best I've ever heard. At the very least a quiz show. They could improvise better than most comics on telly, certainly.
They probably missed out with the collapse of kids' television; they'd've been naturals for Tiswas (like Toyah was) or Going Live or even Ministry of Mayhem. Would have generated a whole new audience. After all, that was my "in" for acts like Adam & The Ants and Madness and Bow Wow Wow and so on - they often had their first exposure on shows like that (Gary Crowley on Fun Factory was particularly good at that, a sort of Peel for pre-teens). And looking on youtube it's astounding how many avant garde acts appeared on Cheggers Plays Pop; Department S, The Adicts, the late Susan Fassbender...

Gary Crowley started out on Capital at some ridiculously young age. He later had a show on GLR (BBC London station) where he played new music with Steve Lamacq joining him as a sidekick for part of the programme. I always found Crowley irritating but he played great music on that programme. He was the first radio DJ I heard play Suede. Before that he played The Heart Throbs which was one reason why I went to see them one March night in 1992. The other reason was that I had heard good things about their support act - Suede.
He also played Pulp some time before they broke through. In the list of DJs who have influenced my musical tastes he is close to the likes of Roger Scott, Nicky Horne, John Peel and Lamacq.
