His % of the vote stayed fairly similar to be fair.

I also see chris was number one 7 weeks in a row, do you think the bad press started to change the votes? I'll answer with two questions .... Do bears $h!t in woods? Is the Pope Catholic? That was the intention of the bad press he got, but it didn't harm his votes in the first 7 weeks. The voting switched so suddenly after the James vs Ella bottom 2 that it makes me think it was voting for the talent rather than the stories that switched the vote.

I read between the lines that Chris won't be attending the X Factor concert next year. He seems to be hated by most of the X Factor contestants, after his burst at Carolynne.

Are you seriously claiming the Christopher Maloney has been accused of strangling a former Cruise Ship colleague in a row that turned sour story which broke the Monday after Week 7 in that bastion of "The Truth" towards Scousers over the years The Sun newspaper had absolutely zero impact. Because I think that was the game changing moment against his chances of winning.

No, I'm sorry, but the game changing event was the two most talented performers on this years show being in the bottom two only midway through the series. That is the event that changed the game against his chance of winning, and quite rightly too given his level of talent. The bottom two that week should have been Rylan and Chris and the public knew it; from that point on, neither act was destined to win.

im acually surprised with falling viewing figures, a dated format and the least talented bunch of wannabees since the show started they havent gone down the route of cashing in on both finalists in a chart battle, seems like easy money
and who knows who will sell records, the two most successful acts in recent years olly murrs and JLS both lost

Because I think that was the game changing moment against his chances of winning. Did I say it had zero impact? No, I didn't. There were so many stories that leaked about Maloney throughout the duration of the finals that by the time that strangling one came out it was very obvious what the producers were trying to do. It wasn't even that high profile a story - I'd say that only a small % of Maloney's fanbase would have been aware of it. Besides, that story leaked in the Sunday papers in the weekend of the quarter finals, not the Monday before. The voting had already opened at that stage. As LittleC said, I definitely think that the shock bottom two of the week before was the catalyst.

It's bad enough having one dire song at the top of the chart, without two of them competing to be #1! I remember when they did that on Pop idol, and thank god the best song/act won that year!

I didn't watch a minute of this series, but actually really like the winners single. Odd choice, but then always wondered why the Shontelle version wasn't a bigger hit in these shores.
