My contribution...
This came up in the YouTube sidebar the other day! It used to get played a lot on the English-language radio station where I grew up (Switzerland) but hadn't heard it at all since then.

I saw Ida Maria live too, and VV Brown was indeed supporting. This was the Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh in 2009. Met Ida afterwards, got my album signed and will never forget the big hug she gave me too. Sadly, she never released another album again in this country, her next two albums were only released in her native Norway. It's funny I was only recently thinking about songs that you don't really hear much of recently, and this was one of the ones I thought of.
I don't know if this does still get play, or even if Absolute Radio plays it, but it's not one I hear very often though.

And of course I've had this one in my head lately, it was a No.39 hit in 1996 I think and it's still as relevant now as it was then:

Christ alive, I posted that four years ago nearly? I can remember doing it. Would have said it was last year.
Funny that the Erotes have flying helmets on. Like they're just fledglings and need some cranial protection.

The Manics released 2 singles on the same day in 2001, one was So Why So Sad which hit No.8, and the other was this one which hit No.9 yet seems to be overlooked often.

Apart from Robbie Williams' cover of their song "She's The One", I feel like it would be a rarity to hear any World Party played on radio these days, and this got into the top 20 in 1993. I first heard it on Now 24.

I think this is my favourite Adam Ant solo hit and I wonder if anyone else remembers it. Lovely simple yet subtle song. Back in the top 40 after a near-half-decade absence with "Room At The Top", the follow-up was presumably meant to push the album rather than be a hit in itself; after the complex choreography of the RATT video it was back to basics with this one instead.
But, my God, the young lady in it (a model called Taina) is heartmelting, perhaps the most beautiful woman ever to appear in any pop video ever.

Less a forgotten song than a forgotten band. Four top 40 hits in 2000/01, of which this is the 3rd. A sellout tour. Then, nothing. Not even on Spotify.

loved Paula Cole - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone!!!!! Amazing track, bought the album + some old album too, on the back of that song... I was living in the US at the time and the song was huge, went top 10 if I remember well... In the Uk it was released in a very competitive week with many many newies, would probably been top 10 in the UK too if released on a quieter week

was checking Paula Cole on Spotify and surprisingly Where Have all the Cowboys Gone is "only" her 2nd most streamed song with 3 mil... really thought it was her most (only) famous song... but I Don't Wanna Wait is 1st with 11 mill... surprising cos that flopped, but I guess being on Dawson Creek helps

This isn't exactly a "Nearly Forgotten" Hit but a completely forgotten hit for me. I went to Popmaster Live over the weekend and, to cut a long story short, our team came joint top on points, so I had to go up and take part in the tie-break. But could I name Spagna's second Top 40 hit? No.
Still, it was a lot of fun and I got to meet Ken Bruce so what more could you want?

I actually prefer the song that was in the other team's tie-breaker question though.

Probably not "nearly" forgotten. But I mention this because when this single dropped from its new entry high, it became, after 45 years of hitmaking, the first Cliff Richard single ever to peak at no. 5.
Which was quite a thing, given that he had had two peak at 35, for instance. I think the only number in the top 20 left for Cliff to peak at is 18.

Dum Dums I loved as a kid, still play their album but there are demos on their still existent official site that would have made a second album

Tablet is acting like a tw*t, so cannot edit the post above.
Anyhow, Josh Doyle of the Dum Dums is now a solo artist living in Nashville, but does come back to the UK now and again for solo tours. Will Pepper of the band guested with him for a few songs the Dum Dums originally recorded. The other two members were in Ricky Gervais/David Brent's band in the movie from last year.

Lovely track from just a couple of years ago which, despite having him singing the chorus, seems to have been completely ignored in all of this year's Ed Sheeran madness
