It's got an absolute brilliant bass intro
Rochelle - My Magic Man
and it only got to number 27 in February 1986.

Sky was a musos' dream, some of the best instrumentalists in British music coming together for a series of proggy albums. Including Herbie "Grandad" Flowers and John "Not The Star Wars One" Williams. This one perhaps gets overlooked because ELP had cornered the prog-classical singles market with "Fanfare For The Common Man" a couple of years before.

She’s an 80s essential. If you don’t know her triplicate of number 17 hits you need to get to YouTube pronto.

I will just leave this one here then.... The oft-forgotten musical side career of Aberystwyth Town Football Club there.

Ultra 'Say It Once' was fairly satisfying boyband fodder.

Always thought there was a whiff of 'Careless Whisper' about this one, Upside Down doing 'Change Your Mind'.

Point Break 'Freaky Time' was, in my opinion, the best of their singles. I think one of them was in Byker Grove.

Two of them were in Byker Grove! And the one that wasn't was in Eastenders not that long ago.

The Billboard chart of 22 November 1963 had this single enter at number 83. It rose all the way to no. 3 in early 1964, behind The Singing Nun and The Kingsmen, making it a rather unlikely Christmas top 3.
It dropped off the charts 13 weeks after entry, straight out from no. 31, which suggests the chart rules were pretty harsh on falling singles then. But in that week The Beatles were at no. 3 with "I Want To Hold Your Hand", having made their Hot 100 bow at no. 45 the previous week.
And, in fact, from then on, until 27 April 2002, the week after Craig David's "7 Days" was at no. 54, there was a British act on the Hot 100 every single week.
The Caravelles kicked off that astonishing run. As Lois Wilkinson and Andrea Simpson were the first UK girl group - well, duo - to have any impact on the States. This also reached the top 10 here, but has been swept aside by the beat revolution.

There actually was a video for this one, but I couldn't resist Legs & Co dancing to The Sex Pistols. Well, Cook and Jones, anyway, whose next hit would be as The Professionals. By this time McLaren had got bored and moved on to his next project (Bow Wow Wow) and the Pistols name was heavily debased currency. But that doesn't stop this particular single from being utterly brilliant.

JX - Son Of A Gun
Five practically identical singles, however all were rather good. Here’s the template from Mr Rex The Dog.

Didos big bruv chucked this one out as a side project at the wise old age of 27. Rather loved this in my clubbing days. I forget he was responsible for “Don’t You Want Me” Felix.

A great single that peaked at number 65 in January 1981. The excellent 'IOU' by Jane Kennaway and Strange Behaviour.
The guitar riff sounds at times like it's going to veer off to sound like the guitar riff in 'Hot Stuff' by Donna Summer.

That's quite an expensively produced video, looks like someone had high hopes for her. Indeed, she performed this for Top Of The Pops, as Honey Bane was stuck at an airport and looked like she couldn't get there in time. But she did, she got the slot by being 7 places higher in the chart, and Jane got forgotten.
Incidentally, that TOTP was quite a weird line-up, incredibly loaded and some brilliant singles, but some were very low in the charts. Spandau Ballet at 45, XTC at 54, and Honey Bane at 64.
