The run up to the run up to Christmas has begun They've released a promo in the form of a massive mash-up of previous finalists and I have to say it's rather good! Absolute disgrace at the absence of Same Difference and Frankie Cocozza! Nice to see Joe McElderry though! Really looking forward to this years series. Borelow might be hanging around like a bad smell but with Sharon back on board along with Nicole and Louis I've got a good feeling about this series!

That was pretty good, glad they included Joe and Shayne. Not surprised Steve Brookstein wasn't included but surprised Diana Vickers wasn't included, or Rhydian or Ray Quinn for that matter, but it was still a good montage.

I love a good mash up - and that was a good one.
Looking forward to the new series even though I'm not looking forward to Sharon Osbourne and she may end up making me turn over.

I think this should be the last year.
X Factor without Louis wont be good.

I don't know how I got to the point where I'd be sad to see X Factor without Louis, but that's where I am. Sharon is only doing one series and I expect Gary will leave too, so either a mostly new panel or the end of the show next year.

They are taking bets that if it does continue that Simon Cowell is favourite to return to the panel followed by Cheryl Cole. Alexandra Burke was apparently thought of when they decided on Sharon Osbourne returning but thought that although she won x factor she had no real experience in the music market. Other possibilities to be judges were any of the spice girls other than Posh and Miley Cyrus and Sinitta. I dont believe the tabloids though on these kind of stories

Gary and Louis are leaving at the end of this series, if Sharon is only back for one season. That means they be looking at 3 new judges, Simon might make up a judge if he decides to come back next year, with 2 more new judges to find.
This series is due to come back on the 31 August with 2 weekend shows (Saturday & Sunday) every weekend until the final in December. That's the reason its starting late this year.

It all points to this season being the last surely?
It's about time they had episodes on Sundays throughout the run. I never understood why they didn't do it before as any Sunday audition, bootcamp and judges homes shows always tended to do a bit better in the ratings.

If this is the last season, a show like this will be a big loss for some artists who end up performing in the later stages of the comp, artists tend to use it as a platform to boost single or album sales,(for example Olly Murs) and I think sales will reflect that in the last quarter of the year. Unless a new show with a better format along the same lines of the X Factor is introduced with guest artists performing. X Factor does have its good points but as some people are saying the show is bcoming dated, so something else has to replace it, doesn't have to be another reality music game show, maybe its time for a proper music show where artists can showcase their new material.

I have seen this mix on tv and it is a good mix.
In regards to X Factor itself, I just feel it has become boring. We need some change of format to liven it up.
I am not sure what it needs, but we deffo need something, maybe artists who write their own stuff, sing their own songs instead of well known song...not sure.

No he doesn't need Syco, he needs to use the publicity of a duet with a Spice Girl
There is no way this would be the hit its becoming if it had been a Matt Cardle solo single

It doesn't matter, what it generated was publicity that wouldn't have happened without her

The X Factor' is to introduce a new 200-second voting system on Saturday nights.
ITV Bosses have decided to shake up the talent show by giving viewers just over three minutes after every wannabe pop star has performed to pick up the phone and save their favourite from the chop, before the act with the lowest vote becomes the first to face the axe on Sunday.
In a bid to keep viewers hooked on the show, they will be asked to vote again on Sunday and the lowest-scoring performer will join the one from the previous day, but as part of the new twist, if the judges - Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger - go to deadlock, the act who received the lowest vote on Saturday will automatically get boot.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Millions tuned out last year because they figured they could just catch up on Sunday when we screened bite-sized versions of the previous night's performances.
''By giving them a chance to vote on Saturday, hopefully they will feel it's worth sticking around and watching.
''It will be more dramatic and have the added benefit of making the show a bit more transparent when we go to deadlock.''
This year's 'X Factor' kicks off on August 31.

A good idea .... for the producers/Syco, as the judges will (officially) know the outcome, so come Sunday if the act they want to keep finished bottom on Saturday you can guarantee a 3-1 vote rather then pretending they don't know who has finished bottom in deadlocks on Sunday night as they previously have then come the end of the series when the voting figures are revealed we all realise they obviously did know whenever it was a controversial outcome to keep the Rylan/Katie Waissel/Jedward marmite & "chosen ones" acts in the contest against better singers.
With the new Reality TV singing talent franchise sweeping the world (The Hit); ITV can put this tired show out of its misery and replace it with a fresher more brilliant alternative.
FYI: The Hit = non professional songwriters showcasing their songs to established artists. The artists will then battle one another to find the perfect song they can turn into a hit. All tracks are available on phonelines for the public to vote for, with the top two songs on the night then being made available to purchase (on iTunes, etc) and the song that is highest in the following weeks (national) chart is the winner of that week; etc.

But as it is new original compositions then that would be less likely the public would buy something they are not so familiar with and the maximum weeks run to date is 9 Weeks (8 Heats + The Final). But that sure beats somebody covering a modern MOR standard like Iris; To Make You Feel My Love; etc and the song goes Top 10 only to fall to 37 and then out in the following weeks. Anyway, the show is doing amazingly well in Ireland at the moment not least as the legendary Grammy/BRIT Award winning producer Steve Lillywhite is in charge of things; and where else could you expect Samantha Mumba to get her first hit single in 11 years outselling Lady Gaga's Applause to claim a top 5 hit:
