ITV has bagged the rights to Israeli talent show Rising Star, which is expected to be a new rival for The X Factor and The Voice UK. A huge hit in Israel, the show allows viewers and judges to vote in real time via an app and the studio audience only get to see the act if 70% of the viewers support the performers. Produced by Keshet, the company behind the drama Prisoners of War (the original Homeland), the format has been sold around the world. The show is expected to launch in the UK in January 2015, replacing Dancing on Ice in the New Year Sunday night slots. ITV's new signing coincides with the broadcaster's renewed deal with Simon Cowell for three more series of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a531526/itv-signs-new-x-factor-voice-talent-show-rival-rising-star.html------- Not another reality show, oh... another 3 years of the X Factor, wouldn't be better to replace it with this.

I agree, should better do it instead of X Factor.
What about the Irish show The Hit? Will they do it in the UK?

I agree, should better do it instead of X Factor. What about the Irish show The Hit? Will they do it in the UK? Now that is a great format, getting unknown/aspiring songwriters to have their songs selected and performed by successful/has been popstars. Much better than having someone murder Iris; Make You Feel My Love; Cannonball; Read All About It; etc.
