So you're the one! Did they change the score for the offside "goal"? I'm just after confirmation that it is the host broadcaster that codged it up rather than someone at the BBC. They changed the score on TVP1, which uses the official graphics rather than their own. In fact, such was the noise in the pub from Poles celebrating Argentina's "goal", we didn't realise it was disallowed for a good few seconds (cue equally loud cheers from the German section). It would make sense for it all to be centrally controlled with each broadcaster displaying the information in their house style.

Suedehead's alternative 2014 World Cup Awards
The rubbish commentary award
If it was measured over the tournament as a whole ITV’s Sam Matterface would be the clear winner for his sheer ineptitude and his apparent inability to understand how the tournament worked. However, the individual worst commentary has to be the BBC’s Jonathan Pearce for his total failure to grasp the basics of goal-line technology on the France v Honduras game.
Best commentary moment
The BBC commentator in the Brazil v Germany semi-final for his comment shortly after the score went to 5-0 “If you’ve just switched on, that scoreline is not a mistake”.
Most confused pundit
Glenn Hoddle for believing that Al Jazeera is a country.
Worst co-commentator
A tie between Andy Townsend and Mark Lawrenson. The latter’s surname should be pronounced Lore-renson with the emphasis on the second syllable as a tribute to his failure even to attempt to pronounce players’ names correctly. Swine-styger anyone?
Best goal celebrations
Colombia for their dancing
Most pointless goal celebration
Brazil after their “consolation” goal in the semi-final.
Wembley tribute award
All the stadiums which had large numbers of empty seats for the first few minutes after the start of the second half.
Nostalgia award
The few players (mostly goalkeepers) who played in black boots.
Silliest haircut
Palacio (followed by the referee with the comb-over).
Most pleasant surprise
After a number of players (including Neymar in the opening game) escaped a red card FIFA did not order a massive clampdown with the result that all matches ended with at least 21 players on the pitch. It meant that some players continued to be very lucky to stay on the pitch but it also showed that it is possible to be relatively lenient without matches descending into a succession of nasty fouls.

Still at least Argentina's Gonzalo Higuain has four years to learn all about the offside rule:

"7th occurrence of Germany v Argentina, equalling Brazil v Sweden and Germany v Serbia."
I assume Germany v Serbia includes West Germany v Yugoslavia ?
