Yeah, Sam told me about that, reminds me of the time that team Castel something made it to the top flight for one season, there was a book on it, mentioned a lot of match fixing...

Excellent!
Anyone see the suggestion of the FA Cup sponsored by..., becoming The Emirates FA Cup, well it's worth 30 million after all, is there anything else left with a price to be whored out to the highest bidder to make money for those at the top of the game??

I accept I'm probably in the minority but it didn't really bother me, it's still going to be the FA Cup to me whether that is the official name or not. It should have been for more money really over the 3 years, but it's been embarrassing that the competition hasn't had a sponsor this season and it needed sorting. The suggestion is that without sponsorship the FA Cup fund, along with the FA Trophy and Vase budget, was under threat, to fund the £30m a year of Greg Dyke's England Commission.

that's what they say, more likely is the prize fund for the winner (usually already a champions league team) will be trebled, not a fan I have to say

There are rumours going around that John Carver has been sacked as Head Coach of Newcastle. Plenty of speculation on twitter and message boards. Is it true or is this just speculation? The rumours also add that Carver and an unnamed player came to blows on the journey home.
We are looking like we are going to be relegated. We were absolutely dreadful in the Leicester game. Carver is clueless and the players are spineless.

I've not heard anything else since so it looks like it was just internet gossip and bizarrely the two tweets speculating that Carver had been sacked and which sparked off discussion around the internet have both seemingly been deleted.

I feel sorry for carver. He loves the club but the players have no fight. Mixed with probably naive tactics because he isn't a manager, more a head coach. I wouldn't be surprised now derby are finished Steve mcclaren might come in by tomorrow if thats who they are going to employ anyway

Been wondering about the Blackpool situation.
What do people reckon they will do?
Rearrange the game for another date (personally with it being the last game and nothing at stake for either side I don't think they'll bother). Award the points to Huddersfield, whether that is an arbitory 3-0 win or the 0-0 as it was when it was abandoned. Or give Blackpool a fine or a points deduction?
Interesting to see on the FLS that a Reading fan, Jon Keen, was on the street in his Reading shirt! He's a part of the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF), and was a founder member of STAR (Supporters' Trust At Reading).

I suspect it will be given as 3-0 to Huddersfield. It is likely that several players have holidays booked for the coming weeks, so a rearranged match could be awkward. Presumably, Blackpool will be hit with a fine plus, possibly, a points deduction for next season.

It surely has to be awarded to Huddersfield...

Football League confirms the game won't be replayed. Result to be decided at a board meeting on the 14th.

Been revealed today that John Carver offered to resign if Newcastle could find another manager, but Steve McLaren turned them down so he will remain in charge for the rest of the season. Glad McLaren's not joining them for the last 3 games, but surprised he's staying at Derby for next season after they missed out on the playoffs, although he didn't particularly sound like a manager who was planning to walk away in his post-match interview.

It's from next season. At the end of Saturday's Football League Show, they effectively said their goodbyes.

Yea, as mrh says, it's for next season, announced in December. Thought i'd mentioned it on here at the time but it appears not.
As I said elsewhere, I like the FLS, shame it's going next season although at least the Channel Five deal means it will be on at a decent time on a Sat (9pm).
That said, just thought, being on at that time means I won't be able to skip through the League 1 and 2 games I don't want to see, so i'll probably still record some of it. Can't remember ever watching the FLS live.
In other news, Reading's U21s have been promoted to the top tier following Derby's 0-0 draw at West Brom last night in their final game Top 2 go up, Reading still have 2 games left along with leaders Middlesbrough who are 3 points clear.

9pm is not a good time at the start of the season as at the start of August, Shabbat still ends at 9:30pm.
Yeah, I know I can set the video. Catch-up TV would be even better.
