Yeah, I noticed how close that was!!! On the overall alltime leaderboard, Robin stays top, and unbelievably after 11 years, Earl Purple is only 5 points behind me to take 2nd place!!! Raliverpool and Wonderwall overtake Paddy after his intermittent season. Daz and Sudehead overhaul the non-playing greendemon as well. Shireblogger climbs a couple of places, and further down, Rewardman leaps up and Mad Murray climbs another place. I think I 'leapt' up purely because a whole host of those on the historical list no longer participate. LOL.
I take my hat off to the those at the top - so much better insight to English soccer than me.
Huge congrats to Wonderwall.

I think Liverpool were trying to finish lower on purpose to avoid the Europa Cup. By losing by 5 it meant Spurs only needed to draw to overtake them. But I predicted Spurs would win and they did. Only gave it a 3 unfortunately. Should have predicted Liverpool to lose..
I'm glad at least I came off the bottom for the month.
I didn't remember coming 2nd in 2008, I know I came 2nd in 2010.

I don't get all this avoid Europe as it's affects our league performance, I know an Everton fan, and he was desperate to avoid getting in through the fair play league. Surely as a supporter you want your team to play in the biggest arena, ie Europe over the Premiership? I find it truly bizarre, be a bit like Mansfield saying, get us knocked out of the 1st round of the fa cup, so we can concentrate on finishing 12th this season.

I'm gutted Saints haven't qualified automatically, and now need to rely on Arsenal winning the Cup. Some of the greatest nights I've ever had at football matches have been in the UEFA Cup / Europa League. I often go to European games when its not my club playing - I've seen Forest, Villa, Leicester and Arsenal playing in Europe. I've also seen stats which demonstrate that it is a complete myth that participating in the Europa League affects your Premier Division season. Only twice has it had a demonstrably negative affect. The data I saw compared results on the Saturday/Sunday after a Thursday Europa game, to the same team after a blank week. On average, a team does marginally better if it has the added bonus of European football, instead of mid-week training sessions, but it isn't statistically significant.
