******************34 Robyn with Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat***************************
The last pure pop song on the list and there is only one more song with a female vocal, bet this surprised some of you. Just a perfect cry on the dancefloor song which Robyn is the mistress of. This reached #1 in 2007.

Never understand that hate about Nickelback. Which popular and successful indie / britpop / rock weren't mentioned before ? 7th Nation Army ? Mr.Brightside ? Viva La Vida ? Coldplay has been but not the other two.

******************33 Vampire Weekend - A-Punk***************************
We haven't had an indie disco classic for awhile. This Paul Simonesque song is just so catchy. Can't believe it only peaked at #55 but I am sure it picked up a lod of downloads over time.

******************32 Biffy Clyro - Questions and Answers***************************
How many times can you remember the moment you discovered your new favourite band? Well it was when I had just moved to a new city and I started a new job where i worked shifts and in my spare time watched MTV2. If you are starting working at 12 what else can you do? Then this song came on think I was at my Mother In Laws house and went wow Biffy Clyro have taken it to the next level, I love this. Even then there was no way of knowing that in 5 years time they would be the biggest rock band in the UK.
Anyway this was their first top 40 hit and reached #26 in 2003, still makes me cry this song. :/

******************31 The Strokes - Hard To Explain***************************
Now we have the highest placing for The Strokes, the track that really made everyone take notice. It's such a simple song, you can't even say why it is brilliant, it just is!! This reached #16 in 2001.

******************30 Silversun Pickups – Lazy Eye***************************
In the 00s, a brilliant different video could make such a difference. There is just something about this video that just makes you stop what you are doing and watch it, even if you have seen it 100 x times. The fact this band sound like Smashing Pumpkins at their best helped a lot of course. Can't believe that we were surprised she was a girl at the end, I guess low definition CRT TV helped make the mystery that HD clearly shows. In fact I feel really stupid as even by he body language it was so obvious!!
Sadly Silversun Pickups have never had a hit single in the UK, guess that means i could use them sometime hehe

******************29 Brand New - The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows***************************
Another rock idol entry. Brand New are just brilliant , their mix of hardcore and emo just makes them something special. This is where it all started for them. This reached #39 in 2003.

******************28 blink-182 - I Miss You***************************
Running out of words to describe these songs now as they are getting too good. Who would have though Blink 182 could release such a fantastic power ballad. This was actually #6 in my earlier list so dropped a bit. This reached #8 in 2004. No more Blink 182 to come but we will have more from their drummer.

******************27 MGMT - Time To Pretend***************************
Another brilliant debut single. What a debut album it was practically perfect. Their current single is a bit more accessible but wish they would make songs like things again. This reached #35 in 2008. They still have a song to come.

******************26 Friendly Fires – Jump In The Pool***************************
Highest entry for Friendly Fires, yes cow bells. This is one of my ultimate house party songs, If I put this on it just gets me into full DJ mode. Absolute travesty that these guys weren't stars. This song reached #57 in 2008.

******************24 The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army***************************
Here @alexrange is the highest appearance for White Stripes. Made even more famous in recent years as the darts chant for 'Michael van Gerwen'. I think like most people what I liked most about this was it wasn't a typical White stripes song, the bass line just added a whole new dimension to them. This reached #7 in 2003. Also another great video.

******************23 Queens Of The Stone Age – No One Knows***************************
It had to be this one! This was #14 in the first list and I think that's really where this should be. Just brilliant riffs again. One of the most perfect rock songs of the 00s. This reached #15 in 2002.

Think we will two more, the best female fronted song of the 00s and one of the ultimate rock songs of the 00s
******************22 Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Maps***************************
Another song you were never more than an hour away from on MTV2, it just grew and grew on me until I love it more than just about anything. Got to see them live at T In The park and Karen O and the band were just brilliant. This has to be one of the most emotional video performances of the 00s. It is really that decades 'Nothing Compares to You'. The song reached #26 in 2004 but it has had more of a legacy than that and is high in just about every critics list for that decade.

******************21 The Darkness – I Believe In A Thing Called Love***************************
MTV2 would have cut to an ad break, they would never played this after 'Maps'. Just missing out on a top 20 place is one of the greatest live bands of the 00s and one of the best rock songs. I think 3 years later this would be in my top 10 of the 00s now. This reached #2 in 2003.

I am enjoying this too much, I will keep on going till the wife gets home. Next is one of the most exciting Scottish bands of the 00s, for about 6 months they were the biggest thing in UK. They overflowed tents at T In The park, everyone was talking about them but within a year they were back into obscurity. ******************20 Glasvegas – Daddy's Gone*************************** This song was even more emotional for me as I was a very very reluctant dad, I hated it. I was so close to leaving many many times. This song really helped me so much to stay and battle through it, depression etc the lot. I did not want to be a 'Gone daddy'. Now I have two kids I got through it It reached #20 in 2007.

******************19 Editors – Munich*************************** OOh downer ok. Loved this debut album so much, this was even my ring tone for a long long time. Another band I never managed to see live, not sure if I would want to now though This reached #10 in 2006.

This missed my original list shockingly and is the highest add to this top 1000. Foo Fighters have one more song to come. This reached #29 in 2000.

******************17 Filter - Take A Picture***************************
Another 00s style power ballad. this was their second single taken from their album 'Title Of Record'. It reached #25 in 2000. I really played this song to death and it finished in the top 3 for my year end.

******************16 Idlewild – Live In A Hiding Place***************************
Highest appearance for Idlewild. With this single which could have come of 'Automatic For The People'. It is just gorgeous and yes another song that makes me cry, what a softie. This was their third single from 'The Remote Part'. Idlewild were mates through mates and cane to our indie night 'Intergalactic' quite often especially Bob. This song and others like it were sadly the reason Bob left the band, he missed their early punk direction. This reached #26 in 2002.
