301 Ash – Envy
Just outside the top 300 the 2nd highest Ash song on the list. It reached #16 in August 2002.
300 Puddle Of Mudd – Blurry
Only Nickelback were more refiled but I don't know why this is a great song. This reached #8 in the UK in June 2002.
299 Paramore – The Only Exception
Most recent song in this batch a lovely ballad from them, maybe should be in 00s but the album was 2009. It reached #2 in the UK rock charts in Feb 2010 but as you can guess the charts had changed by this point and what would have been top 20 like the other songs flops completely in UK.
298 Muse – Hysteria
From the album Absolution it reached #17 in 2003 297 Liam Lynch – United States of Whatever
The power of MTV2 and Zane Lowe in the early 00s made this novelty indie song a top 10 hit in 2002, can you imagine that now.

Holiday time starts today lets get this restarted, can probably get through this over the next two weeks 296 The Killers – When You Were Young
t was released on September 18, 2006 as the lead single from their second studio album Sam's Town (2006). It reached #2 in the UK charts and #14 in the US. 295 Hot Hot Heat – Middle Of Nowhere
So underated and forgotten this song, the band are now pretty forgotten in general I guess even the brilliant 'Bandages'. This only reached #47 in the Uk and was their last hit here. 294 The Flaming Lips – Do You Realize?? Their 2nd top 40 hit in the UK, and first single from the rather odd 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots' album 293 Alkaline Trio – Private Eye One of my favourite rock bands of the 00s. If you don't know them file them between Queens Of The Stone age and Jimmy Eats World. This reached #51 in 2001. 292 The Long Blondes – Giddy Stratospheres
Biggest hit in my chart for them, it reached #37 in 2007. They have had 3 top 40 hits that is just crazy, the charts were so different just 9 years ago 291 Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales Of San Francisco
Well you all know this, it was chart exempt but who cares 290 The Killers – Bones
More Killers and another from 'Sam's Town' this one reached #15

289 Junior Senior – Move Your Feet
One of the most fun dance records ever and the lo-res video is just a classic. This reached #3 in 2002.
288 Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American
Going for the true title for this song as they only changed it to 'Salt Sweat Sugar' to not offend post 9-11. One of the finest rock bands ever and they were emo when it wasn't a dirty word. This reached #60 in the uk
287 Glasvegas – Geraldine
For a year Glasvegas were the most exciting band on the planet, they went from nobody to heroes in a tiny space of time massively overfilling festival shows. They were a big deal then with the next album it all fizzled out. Lets enjoy them at their glorious best. This reached #16 in UK and was a Scottish number one!!
286 Avril Lavigne – Complicated
Her debut single and arguably her best, Reached #3 in the UK and #2 in the US

285 System Of A Down – Chop Suey!
A staple of MTV2 and Zane Lowe, one of the greatest heavy rock songs of the 00s and still sounds awesome today. Thier biggest hit in the Uk reaching #17 in 2001.
284 Tom Vek – C-C (You Set The Fire In Me)
A cult star loved by his fans but unknown to most. If you havent heard him but love stuff like Beck you'd like him. This #60 in 2005.
283 PJ Harvey – Good Fortune
So many good songs here cant imagine doing this with the 10s,oh well. Guess the main difference that every song I have done today was a hit! Actually shocked to find this only reached #41 sure it was higher!
282 Nada Surf – Hi-Speed Soul
After their video hit 'Popular', kind of thought that was the end a geek pop one hit wonder, then they returned with a new sound inspired by Uk Indie/rock , they were now Snow Patrol soundalikes but very good ones.
281 Maximo Park – Going Missing
'A Certain Trigger' was a brilliant album and this was my favourite non-single was so glad when it came out. It reached #20 in 2005.

I will start by saying this list was compiled some time ago and I am not rewriting history, they were a very good rock band but I won't give them a video link shame the band lose out for the actions of their singer.
280 The Fray – You Found Me
Surprised this is so high, another US band influenced by our bands. This reached #35 in the UK.
279 Foo Fighters – Long Road To Ruin
Another appearance for the Foos and there will be plenty more to come, the 2nd most successful band in my chart in the 00s. Another song poeaking at #35 in 2007.
278 The Coral – In the Morning
I didn't love everything The Coral did but they occasional put out some great singles like this one. Wow this reached #6 in 2005.
277 lostprophets – Rooftops
Their biggest hit reached #8 in 2004.
276 Zwan – Lyric
Billy Corgans short lived band in between Smashing Pumpkins, lighter and poppier but still what we expected from him. reached #44 in 2003.
275 Taking Back Sunday – A Decade Under The Influence
Amazing US rock band, very influential and original. They are still going today but this was where it really started for them. Reached #70 in 2004.

Ended up taking a pause again ffs will finish this one day. Every song in this next bunch is great
274 Santigold – L.E.S Artistes
First proper single from Santigold and surprisingly the only top 100 hit off her brilliant debut album. This reached #27 in 2007.
273 OK Go – Get Over It
A band now who are more famous for the videos than the songs but even this their debut hit had a good video but the song this time is better. This reached #21 in 2002 and remains their biggest hit in the UK although I suspect 'Here It Goes Again' has overtaken it on sales.

272 The Music – Take The Long Road And Walk It
I'm in a 00s mood so lets get back on track with this indie dance stomper, reached #14 in 2002 www.youtube.com/watch?v=ospxlZZM2Hw271 Metric – Monster Hospital
Their breakthrough hit first single from their 3rd album 'Live It Out' in 2006. Reached #55 in the Uk charts. Still arguably their best song. 270 Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends
Everyone knows this one probably the last great Green Day song. Top 10 hit in US and Uk reached #8 in 2005. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU9JoFKlaZ0

269 Eels – Saturday Morning
This song really underachieved at the time , for some reason it wasnt a hit and isnt even regarded as a single by Eels wikipedia?? actually maybe it was radio/video only then hmm seems it was promo only! Taken from the 2003 album 'Shootenanny!' 268 Editors – Blood
From the era of music that already seems to being wiped from history, so sick of readingforum threads where people say music stopped at Brit Pop, not everything in 2005-2009 was landfill, This was excellent. This reached #18 in 2005. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSvQfrv8LHY267 The Dandy Warhols – Get Off
Reviving this thraed was partly inspired by the fact that there doesnt seem to be any successful International bands anymore where did they all go!!! And why have none come to take their place. Yes Dandy Warhols are back but as a small time indie affair they will no longer trouble the charts or arenas, Here is one of their best. 266 Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Gold Lion
Another big US Indie band, I know Karen O has been doing solo stuff but must be due something new soon. This reached #18 in 2004. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0XWeyOZxI8

265 Layo & Bushwacka! – Love StoryNow a change of tune, this is the originial mix not the 'Finally' version. Chilled out dance with Nina Simone and Devo samples. The 'Finally' version reached #8 in 2003. 264 Hope Of The States – The Red The White The Black The Blue
I absolutely loved this band, one of the best gigs I have ever seen, they have more to come much higher up, this was their biggest Uk hit reaching #15 in 2004, that is crazy thinking back!! 263 The Goo Goo Dolls – Stay With You
Now I love Goo Goo Dolls there is much more to them than 'Iris', yes they do radio friendly AOR but so few bands do it now and they do it so well. This reached #39 as a double AA side with 'Iris' in 2006. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf5uEzSO6Sw262 The Mars Volta – Inertiatic Esp
If you think most of these tracks have been quite safe so far prepare!! I saw this band support Red Hot Chili Peppers and they were amazing and this is one of their best if not the best!! This reached #42 in 2003 261 Kaiser Chiefs – Oh My God
No introduction really needed, where it all started for the Brit Pop influenced band who thanks to some clever TV are still successful today. This reached #6 in 2004. Still so catchy!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=54DtVXjk2jY

260 Franz Ferdinand – Do You Want To And we keep it going with Franz's top 10 hit from 2005 from their 2nd album. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDwaDIbrfxA 259 Underworld – Two Months Off With a new album immiment, the new single will be out this week lets go back to this rave anthem, this reached #12 in 2002 www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsE9iXoXB6s 258 Fischerspooner – Emerge Wow lets say wow, this single was like a kick in the teeth and we all thought it was going to change everything and for a short time it did, again I see people complaining there is never anything new then when they get it they dont appreaciate it. Sorry think I will just play this again, amazing electro. Reached #24 in 2002. 257 Arcade Fire – No Cars Go If I hadnt made this list about 2 years ago this would be much higher possibly my favourite Arcade fire song now, after seeing them live in the years in between. This reached #85!!!! what is wrong with everyone. Ok it was a number 2 album.

I have four playlists for my top 1000 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s and this one is getting played the most right now so I think we better try to finish this. 256 Weezer – Island In The Sun
A well known video at the time another great Spike Jonze video, every video he made was great. It reached #31 in 2001. 255 The Stills – Still In Love Song
Another band I loved especially this debut album, they were kind of a cross between The Strokes and The Killers with a bit of Bunnymen thrown in but they never managed to break big in UK. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVGjHwg9QsI254 Longwave – Wake Me When It's Over
Bit similiar to the last song.I still love this so much introspective shoegaze with a bit of an early Coldplay influence from the US, they had some really epic singles. This was one of the best. 253 Rancid – Fall Back Down
Their biggest hit which narrowly missed the top 40 reaching #42 just great punk rock. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CinJuVtdp3Y252 No Doubt – Hey Baby
Their last really massive hit reaching #2 everyone knows this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt1YkGO2Ieo251 Red Light Company – Arts & Crafts
Not sure if this band are forgotten now but this debut album was great and this was the best track but coming out in 2009 they were really late for the party and this music was really starting to getting ignored.

250 Vanessa Carlton – Ordinary Day
The odd one out of the pack a female singer/songwriter, her last great single. I just loved her piano playing and her voice. 249 Coldplay – Yellow
Not much you need to say about this one of the biggest indie songs of the 00s. For a long time couldn't even listen to this as it was so overplayed. But if i was recompiling this list now this would be much higher. I miss those guitars in current Coldplay www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKNxeF4KMsY248 Bombay Bicycle Club – Evening / Morning
The debut single from BBC before they found their unique sound, this was basically another of the many Interpol soundalikes at the time. 247 The Thrills – Big Sur
We have had The Stills we might have The Kills but here is The Thrills. Like a surf pop version of The Bluetones, just a great feel good indie pop tune. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1fGNCvZL_w246 The Pigeon Detectives – Take Her Back
This was such an anthem at the time little did we know it would come to signify everything wrong with late 00s indie landfill. I still think its great a laddish swag version of The Libertines. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuyNnm0lwBw

245 Ladytron – Destroy Everything You TouchTo kick things off some electro pop this was their biggest hit reaching #42 244 Keane – This Is The Last Time I'm sure this was their debut single but I think they had a Fierce Panda song first maybe this reached #18 in 2003 243 Hot Chip – Ready For The Floor Now hipsters favourites Hot Chip one of their best songs, this was their biggest hit and amazingly reached #6!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhASu2OjEcQ242 Feeder – Just The Way I'm Feeling Another song that should be higher just an epic indie rock song, this reached #10 in 2002. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgC9P-XECrw 241 Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Possess Your HeartI always thought they were bigger than they were this only reached #85, just so spooky and atmospheric www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsCV61zsdtA

240 The Ataris – In This Diary The next two songs are what I call MTV2 era, just bring back memories of Zane Lowe when he presented there. To think this song is all about thinking of a past musical era and we now have bands like The Academic thinking back to this era. Just brilliant power pop. I still play this a lot!! 239 Alien Ant Farm – Movies You couldn't avoid this song in 2001, from the better end of nu-metal, it still sounds good today, it reached #5!! 238 The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition This is so good and yes I love it more now than then, this reached #6 in 2009. Starting to think 2009 was the last year for great music in the top 40 www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxKjOOR9sPU237 La Roux – Bulletproof Another song I love more now than ever, more electro pop and when I do djing for fun I always seem to play this at the moment. It was incredible to think this was a number one record in 2009, how things have changed in such a short time. 236 Kings Of Leon – On Call This maybe should be lower decent KOL but not essential, it reached #18 in 2007. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYOW5uoyKl0

Lets get this back on track with 4 brilliant songs in a row, This could be a MTV 2 show. if this is what misses the top 200 we are in for a treat. T 235 The Killers – Somebody Told Me
The Killers 2nd single and first top 40 hit in the UK, it reached #28 first time then #3 in 2005 in re-issue. Still on eof their best. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5fBdpreJiU234 Good Charlotte – Girls & Boys
Not all nu-metal sounded the same, this 80s, The Police, influenced rock track still sounds so fresh. This reached #6 in 2003. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FTS2tdmyYM233 Bloodhound Gang – The Bad Touch
I was already a fan of Bloodhound Gang before this came out and wasn't sure about the new sound but its still very much them. This reached #4 in 1999.
232 Tool – Schism
A band introduced to me through MTV2 , I dont think I actually charted it at the time, just amazing prog heavy metal.

231 White Lies – Death White Lies 2nd single reached #52 in 2008, the sound was starting to get a bit tired as we were now on to the 3rd generation of bands in 5 years using this sound, it was like z rate Brit Pop music again but this was still great even if it was derivative. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTh9IuSTOY0 230 Head Automatica – Beating Heart Baby A side project of Daryl Palumbo singer in Glassjaw, they used more beats than the hard core emo of Glassjaw. This was their poppiest and biggest hit reaching #44 in 2004. 229 Garbage – Breaking Up The Girl Garbage were still releasing great singles in the 00s but this was probably their last brilliant single until last years 'Empty'. This #27 in 2002. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFHmn22PkKU228 Deftones – Change [In The House Of Flies] Another band that MTV2 really got me into and this is epic and one of their best. This reached #53 in 2000. 227 Arcade Fire – Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) Arcade Fire's 2nd hit single from their debut album. I didn't actually remember how well their songs used to chart but this actually reached #26 in 2004, just amazing that.

226 ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead – Mistakes And Regrets Probably one of those most underground bands I liked in the 00s , I think i bought 3 of their albums, great sleeves, but this was their debut hit it actually reached #69 in 200 taken from their 2nd album 'Madonna' 225 MSTRKRFT feat. JOHN LEGEND – Heartbreaker
This was a big MTV2 and Zane Lowe favourite and it remains John Legends only hit in my chart, just a great mix of electroclash and his great vocal, also a humorous video. I really thought it would be huge but only reached #50
224 Mobius Band – Friends Like These Now a song that I entered in Hidden Indie Treasures, this band are famous for being probably the only band I got into by a recommendation from Ferne Cotton. Just great indie pop. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrXpQ4cBWGk223 Keane – Is It Any Wonder? An unexpected change for Keane they turn into Achtung Baby era U2, I actually think this is one of their best songs and still sounds great. This is actually their joint highest charting single reaching #3 www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVe_KVzBFOo222 Gomez – Machismo Bit of oddity this one, loved their debut album and this is probably the only others one they did which came close to those first singles, but it is odd. It never charted don't think it was eligible. It was out in 2000 www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0Lhiypu1Vg
