Asian 1st round, 2nd leg FIFA's lowest-ranked side pull off another win to reach the 2nd round, where they'll be in a group with four higher-ranked teams. East Timor joined them by finishing off Mongolia but Brunei couldn't quite get the job done against Chinese Taipei, thanks to a second half winner from a player listed by FIFA as "Chu E L". It's worth mentioning East Timor's recent success could be largely down to the number of Brazilian-born players in the squad at the moment. The draw for the 2nd round, which will feature 40 teams, separated into eight groups of five, will be made on 14 April. CONCACAF qualifying gets underway on Sunday, though the first round matches there are staggered over several days, rather than being played on the same day.

CONCACAF 1st round, 1st leg: A shock in the opening game of the CONCACAF qualifying competition as the US Virgin Islands beat 10-man Barbados, who missed an early penalty. The US Virgin Islands had never won a World Cup match before the last tournament but beat the British Virgin Islands four years ago to reach the group stage. If they can hold on in Thursday's second leg, they will face Aruba in the next round.

CONCACAF 1st round, 1st leg: After only 25 goals were scored in the first 13 games of the 2018 World Cup, the next two bring 13 goals between them. Nicaragua, who were somewhat unfortunate to be involved in the competition this soon, scored four first half goals against Anguilla, who still await their first World Cup victory. St. Kitts & Nevis earned a comfortable advantage over the Turks & Caicos Islands despite missing an early penalty. CONCACAF qualifying continues throughout the week with one tie to keep an eye on being Montserrat's clash with Curacao, who will be managed by former Holland striker Patrick Kluivert.

CONCACAF 1st round, 1st leg: Two more first leg ties last night. Bermuda all but sealed their place in the next round, where they'll face Guatemala, with an emphatic victory over the Bahamas. Huddersfield's Nahki Wells was among the goals for the visitors, while the home side's Happy Hall didn't live up to his name, being sent off in the second half. The day's other game saw the Cayman Islands earn a creditable draw with Belize, who missed an early penalty. The Dominican Republic await the winners in the next round.

CONCACAF 1st round, 1st leg: CONCACAF 1st round, 2nd leg: Dominica came from behind to avoid a shock result against the British Virgin Islands. Both legs are being played in Dominica and BVI were the "home" team tonight, meaning Dominica have scored three away goals despite playing at home. Barbados overcame a first leg deficit to knock out the US Virgin Islands and set up a 2nd round tie against Aruba. Harry Panayiotou scored a hat-trick as St. Kitts & Nevis repeated their first leg score against the Turks & Caicos Islands to complete a 12-4 aggregate win. El Salvador await them in the next round.

I would expect there has, purely because it's almost happened a few times in the World Cup before tonight.
2010: Thailand beat Macao 6-1 and 7-1 Jamaica beat Bahamas 7-0 and 6-0
2014: China beat Laos 7-2 and 6-1

Not World Cup but one noteworthy result that happened this week was French Guiana beating Honduras 3-1 in the first leg of their playoff for the final place in this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. French Guiana aren't FIFA members so aren't in the World Cup but can follow in the footsteps of Martinique and Guadeloupe in qualifying for the Gold Cup. Doing so by beating a team that was in the World Cup last year would be an amazing achievement.
