deadline.com/2015/01/x-files-reboot-talks-fox-1201352465/Possible reboot this summer. I'm a big fan of the series, always was an avid watcher I was hooked from the very start, after Season 3 the series really took off. With the original characters coming back, not sure how it will work this time round, but I be interested to see how it goes, mind you Gillian Anderson is heavily contracted with Hannibal at the moment, and a possible season 3 of the Fall. Howard Gordon has also dumped 24, Jack Bauer will not be coming back.

Gillian Anderson seems busy with many shows, not sure if it´s compatible with doing Xfiles
is he still doing Californication?

just found this: David Duchovny has confirmed that he is keen to return to The X-Files – but not for a full season. image: nme.assets.ipccdn.co.uk/images/article/2015TheXFiles_Getty1145458190115.jpgThe cult sci-fi show originally aired on US network Fox for nine seasons between 1993 and 2002 and also spawned a pair of spin-off films, released in 1998 and 2008. Fox revealed on Saturday (January 17) that it has had "conversations" about reviving The X-Files. The potential new season would feature the show's iconic lead duo, Duchovny's Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully, as well as input from The X-Files' creator Chris Carter. Responding to the news, Duchovny told USA Today that he is "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with Gillian and Chris" and said: "I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now." However, the actor then added: "We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season." During an interview earlier this month (January), Anderson said she would be "f***ing overjoyed" if Fox brought back The X-Files, and urged fans to tweet at the network to show their support for the revival. Anderson was recently seen in series two of BBC2's The Fall and also has a key supporting role on NBC's Hannibal, while Duchovny will soon be seen starring in upcoming US crime drama series Aquarius. I loved the X Files, even during its patchier periods of trying to badly balance whether Mulder and Scully are still key characters or whether to let Doggett and Reyes step up and replace them, but this worries me slightly. To continue straight on has all the weight of so much complicated and convoluted continuity bearing down on the show before it even begins. They'd have to either retcon things or ignore inconvenient bits or just start afresh. I'd like to see a similar show, maybe set in the same universe so that Mulder and Scully and various others could pop up, but it would worry me to see a new X Files FBI duo picking up on 10-15 years of backstory as it wouldn't exactly attract a new audience.

Hmm... not sure how to feel about this. We have the boxed set of The X-Files but never made it all the way through; it just seemed to get worse the longer it went on and the never-ending nonsense about Mulder's sister bored me to tears. Still, a one-off, 6-part series could be fun...

I'm so pleased. I always knew that awful last movie couldn't be the end. I assume these final episodes will have a heavy focus on tying up the mythology?

I approve of this. Well, I approve of Gillian Anderson. Same thing, pretty much.

I lost interest in the latter stages of its original TV incarnation and never saw the movies.
I will probably watch this six part mini-series though.

I lost interest in the latter stages of its original TV incarnation and never saw the movies. I will probably watch this six part mini-series though. That sums up my attitude too. Like a lot of American shows, it outstayed its welcome and got rather boring. However, a new mini-series ager a long break could work.

I loved it early on but can't recall when I tuned out of it - sure I missed years of it. I must do some homework on it in advance of the new episodes

I heard the 1st part is a bit plodding as they have to introduce so much stuff to new viewers but part 2 is much better
