Wah! and Maisonettes are both very good records, but charted too early for me to consider for my top 10, which as EP points out almost coincides with my birth week.
A salute To Haysi Fantayzee. 'Shiny Shiny' is a little underwhelming, but as novelty songs go 'John Wayne Is Big Leggy' was a cracker and with a great back-story to boot - it would have been hard to resist giving that some time at #1 had I been charting '82.
For '83 though, it's not a coincidence I started out here: 'Down Under' is for me one of the ultimate guilty pleasures, a superb novelty #1.

Wah! and Men At Work entered the same week. In the top 40 anyway. Wah! entered at 34 then leapt to 6. Men At Work leapt 39-7 the same week. But on the 3rd week although Wah! climbed from 6 to 3, Men At Work climbed to #2 and the next week claimed the top whilst Wah! slipped a place to make way for Eddy Grant who had climbed 22 to 4 the previous week.

Yeah, it entered the top 75 in the chart that was then frozen, and entered the top 40 the following week. Men At Work must have entered the top 75 at #39 whilst Wah! climbed to #34 from outside the top 40.
