I loved Xtra Factor when they were on it, so it's a good choice.

No more Dermot dancing, 1000s of women will be sorely disappointed

All the women I work with are surprisingly happy Dermot is gone. I suppose Olly isn't a terrible alternative

And so Simon Cowell IGNORES the opinion of the general public and hires Grimshaw. All the polls said a firm NO to him being a judge. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Cheryl whateverhernameisthisyear had a hand in the judge line-up choices ...probably the only way she came back for another series. I predict the X-Factor will get its lowest ratings ever this year and Strictly's will be up. www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-33132895

I'd agree with that predication about the viewing figures, but I'm actually quite interested in seeing how well Grimmy does! By far the most interesting on the panel at any rate.

Everyone's moaning about Nick Grimshaw when he's far more clued up about current music than Louis ever has been.

Everyone's moaning about Nick Grimshaw when he's far more clued up about current music than Louis ever has been. I did feel sorry for him on TFI Friday the other night when practically EVERYONE was hating on him online. You're right i suppose he should be given a chance. He might be okay as a judge. Although to be honest the X-Factor has long past its "sell-by-date" and should have been axed years ago!

I will never ever forgive Nick Grimshaw for taking over the late John Peel's weekday 10PM to 12PM slot and the first record he played was Rihanna's Disturbia.
And then there was his (uncompleted) countdown to his derisory "1000 Albums Everyone Says You Should Listen To But We Only Have Time To Play One Track So Here It Is" where we never got further than counting up to #369.
But when some of the albums which were troll/taking the P big time ridiculously low down included:
991. Pulp - 'Different Class' 990. The Clash - 'London Calling' 989. Steve Wonder - 'Talking Book' 980. Arcade Fire - 'Funeral' 973. Fleetwood Mac - 'Rumours' 960. Amy Winehouse - 'Back To Black' 955. The Smiths - 'The Queen Is Dead' 951. The Stone Roses - 'The Stone Roses' 950. Radiohead - 'OK Computer' 940. Prince - 'Sign O' The Times' 933. Carole King - 'Tapestry' 905. David Bowie - 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars' 877. R.E.M. - 'Automatic For The People' 867. Jeff Buckley - 'Grace'
etc
were well beaten by the likes of:
369. Chaka Demus & Pliers – Tease Me 380. Clannad - Magical Ring 383. Five - 5ive 387. Lady Gaga - The Fame 397. The Pointer Sisters - Breakout 405. Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals 424. Bee Gees - Children Of The World 434. Mark Ronson - Here Comes The Fuzz 444. Coldplay - X&Y 464. Lily Allen - Alright, Still 471. Blur - Think Tank
Then I think you have to highly question the buffoon's music tastes .... which of course makes him a perfect replacement for Louis Walsh. Still if he repeats his replacing Chris Moyles formula of losing a million (listeners) in a year then the BBC (& SCD producers) will be very happy.
As for Rita Ora, well she was like Jessie J in reverse on The Voice for most people. But how will she cope having to use Syco's script? Let's hope she fairs better than her derisory 50 Shades of Grey acting performance.
(Warning: Joke coming up with 1980s advert reference) As for Cheryl. Well there were rumours that the former Girls Aloud member was going to be replaced by the multi-Grammy winning first name namesake "All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun" hit maker. But with the key appointment of "Ora" the panel would be "too Orangey for Crow...."
... Still on the plus side, if a couple of cryptic tweets from reputable people is true, then if the BBC get PCD & Cats star Nicole Scherzinger as Rita Ora's replacement then they will unquestionably be onto a win win situation leaving ITV/Syco looking even more ridiculous than Liverpool FC's transfer signings from last summer.

Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes is the new host of The X Factor spin-off show The Xtra Factor, where she has been partnered with Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom.
The pair will be taking over slots once held by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, who have been promoted to hosts of the main ITV talent show.
This year's X Factor will see wholesale changes, with Louis Walsh, Mel B and Dermot O'Leary departing.
Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are the only faces returning.
The judging panel will be completed by newcomers Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora, who was poached from BBC One's The Voice.
Coincidentally, Humes' husband is former JLS singer Marvin Humes, who hosts the BBC's rival talent show.

With all due respect, taste is subjective so why should anyone have the right to highly question the tastes of another person? I find it so conceited for someone to hold the belief that their taste is superior to another's.

Simon Cowell says this year's series is "Make or Break time" and The X-Factor could be AXED THIS YEAR!! I think that could happen as ratings last year were down and they could slide further this year. The show is long past its sell date. www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/x-factor-could-axed-year-5921934EDIT: Mind you he said the same thing last year and the year before.

Even when I agree with raliverpool I find his Daily Mail-esque rants off-putting in the extreme. I end up not reading them or not taking them very seriously at all

I agree 2013 should have been its last year, 10 years is quite enough for it. They're always looking for a "serious new recording artist" yet the singers are forced into these stupid themes where they do cover versions which isn't what they're going to be doing in their careers, and if they stick to the original too much they get slack, but often they are classic songs that shouldn't be meddled with.
Last year's winner Ben Haenow will potentially amount to nothing unless he co-writes songs with his brother and they happen to be good. Their best chance is to find someone who already has a lot of good quality songs that are unknown then use the show for their publicity. (Lucy Spraggan potentially was such an artist but she quit the show in the middle. She does remain the only X-Factor artist to have had a #1 in my chart).

When you said Grimshaw was going to be a judge, for a moment I thought you were talking about Aiden.. Would be funnier if it were, actually...
