Newport have lost their investor, and look skint to me, and aren't well supported. Terry Butcher is a gamble as well, signings look iffy, mainly Conf. players unproven at this level. Leyton Orient signed Ollie Palmer from us for actual money, when he's scored about 4 goals in league 2, and they seem to have lots of off the field problems as well. There's always one team that was relegated the previous year and struggles, look at Tranmere last season I'm also not sure about Notts County, foreign manager and foreign players, will it work in Div 2? Hard to say. I'm also not convinced about us, we look good on paper, but not sure our inexperienced manager is up to it, I hope he proves me wrong, but we look fragile at the back with his attack, attack, attack attitude, can see us losing games 3-4 a lot!

I'm also not convinced by Teddy Sheringham at Stevenage, that looks like a disaster waiting to happen!

Interesting, didn't know any of that about Newport, though I did guess their signings might not have been up to scratch. Orient for all their off-field problems I assumed would be targeting at least consolidation this season rather than another struggle. They've also still got experienced players like Jobi McAnuff, who i'm sure when he joined them last summer wouldn't have imagined for a moment they were going to go down. For all their problems I still can't fully believe they were relegated last season. That said, having had a quick look at their squad, there aren't many players there that are familiar to me.

Reading 0-0 Leeds
Non-event of a match, Bamba (Leeds centre-back) could have been sent off very early on as last man for a foul on Robson-Kanu on the edge of the box. At the time my gut feeling was that he probably was last man but that it wouldn't be given, and he was given a yellow. Having seen the highlights back from the opposite side slightly behind play (think we were pretty much in line with it) i'm less sure that he was the last man. Shame he wasn't tested while on a yellow card as I thought he was the worst player on the pitch, dreadful performance and never looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Not surprised with the score as expected it to be tight even if I did hope for a win, but going by the comments I've heard/seen so far i'm clearly mad as I'm not as negative as everyone else seems to be. I didn't think we played that badly, looked a match between two mid-table sides for me, Leeds played better than I thought they would given they had less preparation time than we did after the league cup games midweek.
Nightmare journey home, it took 35 mins just to get out of the car park which is as bad as its ever been. Because of the delay we got talking to a group of Leeds fans. Wasn't the most comfortable I felt during the day..didn't help they were already slightly p*ssed off as some moron was constantly hooting their horn for what seemed like no apparent reason.
If that's the only game I get the chance to go to this season, and i'm hoping it won't be, then i'm not going to be missing much!
Forgot to add, a moving standing ovation for Eamonn Dolan after 21 minutes as he undergoes chemotherapy after an operation to remove a tumour from his bladder. That was the whole stadium including the Leeds fans, (making up for them completely drowning out Lady Sassima's speech (one of our owners) pre-match).

Rather unfortunate for Ipswich, who I think deserved a 2nd goal, the scoreline flattered us a bit, we've got a great record against you and the big games against good teams are the ones we thrive on. Even before all these attacking players signed and we were struggling for goals this was a game where I thought we could pull out a surprise win. As it is, with that record against you I thought we'd probably win if the new signings settled in quickly, i'm generally more cautious than that. Thought it would be a close game but maybe I shouldn't be surprised it was so emphatic given our big game performances. Having said that, it was some of the best stuff I've seen us play for years, can't remember the last TV game I've seen that was as enjoyable as that.
Sa got the headlines and MOTM award, but Tshibola (the guy who was at Hartlepool last season) was brilliant and deserved it just as much. First time I've seen him start a first team game for us, even before this game i'm wondering if he was even better at Hpool than I realised, he's started most games we've played in last month and a half, but he was playing with confidence after signing a 4 year deal earlier in the week - a surprisingly lengthy deal for us which shows how highly we rate him, if it been 3 years the cynical part of me might have thought there had been interest, look at Hector this year and Sig in 2010 who left on deadline day 3 months after signing 3 yr deals after starring for their country (or u21s v Germany in Sig's case - hence the move to Hoffenheim).
Started thinking about 2005 in the first half with the quality on the ball we were showing Anyway, hope I haven't rubbed it in, was reluctant to say anything at all!

I saw the scores come through on bbc app I have on phone, before the match kicked off I said we'd lose, we can't beat Reading and we're rubbish on sky - as shown by the 1-1 draw tonight with Brum. We're back up to 4th, but could fall to 8th.

You cant argue with the 2nd sending off though can you? And why does Gabriel do what he did, ignore the dirty ugly player, don't do anything to get yourself in bother.

True, I don't have any arguments with the cards given to our players, and Gabriel should have walked (or been kept) away from the situation. The petition is gathering so much weight because of Mike Dean's history. In 30 matches we've played against him, we've won just 8, and have a much worse record even when considering "big" and "small" matches separately. The main gripe with this match is that Costa was not off the field by that point, as he'd committed three very clear violent conduct offences (one of which he has since been charged for), and therefore whatever Gabriel did for his red might not have happened. I assume the other two red card offences were viewed as the same "incident" by the "referee", who in his infinite wisdom decided that "arguing" was the same thing as "pushing one guy to the ground and grabbing another by the neck", and therefore both worthy of yellow cards. This kind of thing is endemic - I can't remember often seeing cases where an altercation was settled by one yellow and one red card. If someone doesn't simply ignore the guy who elbowed/punched/pushed him, then the perpetrator's red card offence is usually given as just a yellow. This is remarked upon by many as "good refereeing" for "keeping 11 v 11 on the pitch", but would more accurately be called "bad refereeing" and "injustice". Given all that happened, and that the officials apparently didn't see the double-slap incident that Costa has been charged for, the correct set of decisions would have been: - Violent conduct charge for Costa vs Kosc - Red card for Costa vs Kos/Gab (assuming the same incident) - Yellow card for Gab (the continued altercation may or may not have happened after Costa's red card)

From what I've seen on youtube, the ref should have got a red card for the push on ivanavich. The game should be classed as a scoreless void game with neither team getting any points to make a point of poor sportsmanship and if we had british players not foreign players there would have been no problems . *stirs the pot*

Extraordinary match at Bayern Munich tonight. Visitors Wolsburg had managed just one point from their previous 21 visits to Munich but were 1-0 up at half time. Pep Guardiola brought on Robert Lewandowski for the second half. He took six minutes or so to settle, then scored five goals in nine minutes.

I feel very sorry for Bournemouth, Callum Wilson has joined Mings and Gradel with knee injuries.
