859. Train - Meet VirginiaSingle from their debut album, a few year prior to mainstream success in 2001 with Drops of Jupiter, NME dubbed them the next REM, they were wrong but they still released a few decent singles www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDIFD6for4A858. Marilyn Manson – Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)I thought this was a big hit, turns out it only got to #135 in the chart, used to be all over MTV and has over 25 million listens on spotify 857. Ace of Base – Don't Turn Around#5 single in 1994, I never realised I was an Ace of Base fan until I compiled this, you forget how many hits they had www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_gs4gCyGKs856. Happy Mondays – Kinky AfroOne band I could never stand, this is the only Happy Mondays song to make it, controversial I know but its the only one I like 855. Ash – Kung FuEarly Ash, first single from album 1977, not much else to say apart from there's plenty more from them to come 854. Jamiroquai – Cosmic GirlClassic Jamiroquai, #6 hit in 1996, loved the futuristic sound when I was 12 853. Manic Street Preachers – The Everlastingsecond single from "This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours", peaked at #11 in 1998 www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeU_qC5tBOE852. No Doubt – Spiderwebs Tragic Kingdom was such a good album, this single has been kinda forgotten over the years www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZktNItwexo 851. Semisonic – If I RunDan Wilson from Semisonic has co-wrote and produced songs for a number of artists including: Adele, Pink, Weezer, John Legend, Taylor Swift, My Morning Jacket and Alex Clare, His collaborations have earned him two Grammy Awards. His first was the 2007 Song of the Year Grammy for "Not Ready to Make Nice," one of the six songs he co-wrote with the Dixie Chicks for their Album of the Year winning Taking the Long Way. Wilson also shared in the 2012 Grammy for Album of the year for his work as a producer of the hit "Someone Like You," one of the three songs he co-wrote with Adele for her album 21. Hugely underrated Artist, but not by me, expect to see a few of his songs in my top 100 www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y4PibJUQdc 850. R.E.M. – Monty Got A Raw DealAnother album track from "Automatic for the People", probably one of the greatest albums of the 90's, at their peak REM were unbelievable

Not being able to stand the Happy Mondays is the first thing in this thread that I categorically disagree with. If I ever made a list like this (which I haven't by the way, so all due respect to you for putting in the effort) Kinky Afro would be comfortably in the top 30.
Furthermore, if I made a list of best opening lines for any song from the 90s it would be a contender for number one.

If I was a fan of the band and liked them, no doubt it would be top 100, it is by far their stand out track for me and making it to 856 isn't too shabby, I just like 850 songs more
I will carry on this when I get back in from grocery shopping

I could have filled my chart with obscure songs but chose to go with some quality pop songs like this This was a good move in my opinion. I know, and like, far more of the songs in your Top 1000 than I had expected. It makes me more likely to seek out those I don't know. I like the healthy mix of pop, indie, dance and rock.

Thanks, I thought it might be appreciated, even 90% of the indie and rock I like has pop overtones and a catchy melody and at the time most probably charted in the top 20 of the pop charts, the 90's was an odd mix where pop and rock often merged, take Britpop as an example, I think its obvious as my chart gets going you will see a lot of Britpop near the top
