Higgins had some very good performances earlier in the season. Ronnie's been doing well in non-ranking events but not so well in ranking tournaments. However, he's higher on the one-year list so his ranking is likely to go up next season.
The Shoot-Out starts on Thursday afternoon with the 1st round taking place over two days. The 2nd round takes place on Saturday with the rest of the tournament on Sunday.

I noticed he has started playing pool. He played in a tournament last week. He has played pool here and there over the years. He played for Europe in the Mosconi Cup back in the day when the USA would win easily every year.

You might as well replace a few rounds of Premier League fixtures with penalty shoot-outs

The Gibraltar Open takes place next weekend, following the same format as the old PTC events. That's followed immediately by the Players Championship. After that, there's only the China Open left before the World Championship in April.
