Overall Wales didn't offer enough so fair play to England who had most possession and really wanted it more.

Most of the British teams are probably heading for the final 16, Rep. Ireland is still debatable though. Really pleased England pulled their socks up, I like to see Sturridge and Vardy in the starting lineup for the rest of the tournament they both gelled well together. And don't let Sterling and Rooney near a ball again. Rooney is just THERE. After this comment about Rooney, think i'll be giving your opinions on football a miss from now on as i'm afraid it's absolute nonsense! I was surprised he didn't get man of the match against Wales and across the 2 games so far this looks his best tournament for ages.
I wasn't sure I agreed with him when he said he was a better player now but it looks like he may have a point. Certainly think the timing of his injury a few months back came at a good time, meant he wasn't going into a tournament with an injury for a change.

My son has admitted that Rooney in midfield is a good thing and he's a Leeds fan, so hates saying anything positive about him

Yeah I hate he fat ugly mess but he has been one of our better players so far. Walker for me as been the best, closely followed by Rooney and Diet. I would start Sturridge next game too

I would start Sturridge next game too I can see Vardy and Sturridge starting next game, Hodgson has already talked about making changes to freshen things up. I think of both as squad/impact players in the tournament, especially Vardy who I imagined being a good impact player, but Sterling doesn't deserve to start and Kane didn't really have an impact against Wales. Kane in particular is a worry as from the bits and pieces I read and heard about the u21 champs last year he didn't have much of an impact there either, so is he always going to struggle in a tournament if he's had a great season for his club? It's a good job we've got so many options up front.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Wilshere start either, thought Alli was pretty anonymous against Wales, and if Kane's not playing there's less reason to play him as obviously he's got that understanding with Kane that most of the other midfielders don't have. Wilshere could do with some more game time too.

Yeah I'd have Lallana 4th best so far. Been a handful without doing much

But yeah Tom I think sterling and Kane will be dropped and rested respectfully. Not sure if he will start Vardy because he would have to play on the left really to keep the shape

Has Ronaldo claimed that the post was in the wrong place yet? He probably put in a complaint that a French Ant got in the way.

After 2 games each:
Teams definitely through to last 16: France Spain Italy (top of group E)
Teams guaranteed to finish in the top 3 of their group: Switzerland England Germany Poland Northern Ireland Croatia Hungary
Teams that cannot reach the last 16: Ukraine
5 points will definitely be enough for a team to reach the last 16.

Could it be possible for a team to qualify with just 2 points ?

I hope Croatia can beat Spain so that Germany, Spain and Italy all end up in the same quarter of the draw.

But yeah Tom I think sterling and Kane will be dropped and rested respectfully. Not sure if he will start Vardy because he would have to play on the left really to keep the shape I was thinking Vardy would be through the middle? It seems like that was where he lined up against Wales with Sturridge on the right. If he was going to play on the left then not sure it's worth it, think i'd rather Rashford played in that case.
I also forgot about Cahill. He's on a yellow so would he be rested to prevent him potentially being suspended for the 2nd round game? I'd like to see Stones get a game anyway.

Yeah that could work. I just read Roy was thinking of bringing Sturridge in for Kane so I guess where he plays depends on if Sterling is dropped too. Its a bit of a shambles that we don't have a single like for like replacement for sterling and Lallana. Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend, Michel Antonio all were in top form. Walcott and Zaha whilst not top of my list were also options
