Bloody refs! Striker clean through and hauled to the ground by the last man and the ref gives a yellow card, how, why, can he justify that? Then we have a goal disallowed for offside, not seen a replay so can't comment, and then Portsmouth score the winner. Amazing atmosphere and there's the core of a good squad there, couple of good signings and we should be up there next season. Mansfield did well this season and although you are still only 2 points off a play off place I assume it's not possible to sneak a place in there this year? I haven't seen the remaining fixtures each team has so am guessing that it isn't even remotely possible?

I guess he thinks there's too many teams between Mansfield and the playoffs. They would need to win and hope 5 teams drop points. They've also got one of the worst goal differences of those teams chasing a playoff place, so it looks highly unlikely. Shame they had to lose to Pompey, who are the football league club I dislike the most, and who now have a chance of winning the title.

More trouble at Hartlepool as the chairman, Gary Coxall, has just announced his resignation. What a time to resign, just before the last game of the season and where the team need to win and hope Newport lose or else they are relegated from the Football League www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39787788The way things are going I can see them doing a Darlington unless they can get promoted back (assuming they get relegated which seems almost certain) to the FL.

Yeah, I think we have to win and 4/5 things have to happen, incredibly unlikely, but you never know, win your game and see what happens...

We have been crud in front of the cameras lately; the freak Newcastle goal and Bristol City. Am sure we will be up for beating Villa, but winning a division below the Prem is just a bonus really. We won League 1 ahead of Southampton and look at the two clubs seasons ever since.

We won League One ahead of Sheff Wed and Huddersfield who went up behind us.
We were then approximately equal to both until 2015. Finished just below them both in 2014 and just above them both in 2015 and slightly more above them both in 2013.
Now they are both playoff teams whilst we got relegated and finished mid-table in league 1. But then we got bought up by owners intent on destroying us.

And Blackpool and Coventry, and probably Hartlepool at the weekend...

It's been a sad season for the game overall. My heart will go out to Jeff Stelling if Hartlepool go down.

My heart will go out to Jeff Stelling if Hartlepool go down. Why ? He's as culpable as anyone else. It's not like he has no influence at the club. Your heart should be going out to the people in the background who lose their jobs as a result of ego-centric badly run football clubs getting relegated and going bust. The people who get paid minimum wage to keep the Leyton Orients and Coventrys functioning. And the suppliers and contractors who won't be getting paid for doing a proper job, because the chairman has syphoned off the cash into other businesses he owns.

I agree with all that, I just love his reactions on Sky Soccer Saturday whenever they score, won't be the same next season without all that if they're in the National next season.

It's a fickle business these days, filled with directors wanting their coin, so the club in question sell up to Americans making everything unstable on and off the pitch.

And Blackpool and Coventry, and probably Hartlepool at the weekend... Entirely different kettle of fish, but Arsenal fans are also having a protest before the Man Utd game. Politely marching before the game though, no call for fruit (or cannons?) on the pitch yet...

But you're complaining about a manager, who I'm sure will leave at the end of the season, unless you want rid of the board as well? I'm sure Arsene will go, why stay and put up with the hate, go back to France and take it easy. Are Spurs bottling it again tonight? Need a big comeback to stay in the hunt!

Can't stand Spurs; they always beat my other halfs team and if they go down, God knows what I'll have to put up with during the Summer! (He supports Swansea).

You're right that the problems are mostly with the manager. Some blame the board for not getting rid of him sooner, and generally for saying/doing very little. The impression is that a lack of pressure from the board is breeding complacency lower down. There's apparently a board/manager meeting next week though...
