As usual we fall short of the Virtual Prediction and the swimmers underperform.
Let's hope the "nailed-on" Adam Peaty doesn't mess up tonight.
Kudos to Max Litchfield though - tough to finish 4th but he set a PB and you can't ask any more than that.
Enjoyed the men's Road Race but was a bit peeved they concentarted so much on the chasing pack rather than the leaders.

Interesting start to day 2 for GB.
The women are through to the rugby sevens QFs, where they'll face Fiji tonight.
Possible surprise medal on the cards in fencing with Richard Kruse through to the foil semi-finals.
David Florence comfortably quickest in the first qualifying run in the canoe slalom.

As usual...the swimmers underperform. Let's hope the "nailed-on" Adam Peaty doesn't mess up tonight. Gold medal, world record and victory by 1.5 seconds. Brilliant. And Jazz Carlin was fabulous too. A great (and bonus) silver medal.

Beginning to get collywobbles. Early days yet but things not going so well for GB team.
Murray brother out in men's doubes tennis, medals both individual and team unlikely in three day eventing after disastrous croos country sectio.
One of our "hot shots" - oerhaps our biggest - Helen Glover and Helen Stanning struggled in their opening row and only beat Denmark in the last few yrds.
Worrying.

Seeing as you seem to be the most negative person in the history of the world, I'll take this as a good sign.

I've enjoyed this evening's Olympics, but oh dear it is going horribly wrong in the Woman's Rugby Sevens for the Bronze (against Canada who they thrashed in the group stage).
Whilst I think Louis Smith MBE has just had a lesson in Karma served cold after mocking Stephen Gerrard a few years ago for that slip against Chelsea, as he has just cost his gymnastic colleagues a bronze by going for glory and silver.

A late night (by my standards) rewarded by two 4th places (gymnastics, rugby sevens). What a pity.
But delighted to see Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow win medals, and really enjoyed watching the pleasure they took from their success.
Congrats to Ed Ling too - just a shame that shooting is such a tedious spectator sport. It is likely that he will be the least well remembered British medallist at these Olympics, which isn't to denigrate his achievement.

Two more silvers in the pool. That takes our swimming total to 4 medals, which is 1 more than the target set by UK Sport. Shooting and Diving have also reached their targets already.
This is my 11th summer Olympics as a spectator. Compared to how I have been conditioned, what is most remarkable is watching our Gymnastics teams finish 4th and 5th in their competitions. We never, ever used to have any world class gymnasts, nevermind a team full of them. Eli Downie is wonderful to watch.
To be non-partisan, I have to mention Simone Biles. What an incredible athlete, combining strength, suppleness and grace. Her floor routine last night was breathtaking.

Russian drug cheat Olga Zabelinskaya has won silver in the Cycling Time Trial. Anna Van Der Breggen (Netherlands) shunted down to bronze; and Lisa Brennauer (Germany), denied a medal altogether.
Shame on the IOC and the UCI for not imposing a ban on Russian drug cheats. (And, indeed, drug cheats of any nation).

How come all the female gymnasts look about 12, but are 16, do they live in a box to keep them small?🙁
